Hm...

"Several Penguins expressed frustration over the team's play lately, citing a lack of urgency or effort, a reluctance to follow coach Michel Therrien's system and the need for more time to adjust to several offseason roster changes.

Then again: "We went to the Stanley Cup finals [in June] with this system, so it's nothing to do with that." Staal said. "It's a matter of showing up and being ready to play."

I read this and swear I heard Cher singing...

If I could turn back time...

Sad cause I really don't like Cher much.

The original Stanley Cup finals team did not buy into the system either until they started winning with it. I guess it will take the new players some time - and wins - to buy in. Seems funny because a lot of them came to the team because they liked the way it was playing.

Miro Satan is a puzzlement~ he has six goals and picks up points on the power play yet he is not a perfect fit for Therrien's system. I don't think Satan can change at this point, but if kept with Sid and Talbot or Fedatanko, they can do the dirty work if Satan continues to score as is.
It took 60 mins of frantic hockey to win, that is how you are suppose to play most games.
Human nature, being human, not easy thing to bring or manufacture the urgency all the time.

All credit to the Mike Zigamantis pick up~ he's been all & more than I expected.

I don't see any reason why Miro Satan can't be successful here. Discounting his first year in Buffalo in which he only played 12 games, he played 7 seasons there. Now, a lot of their success came from Hasek, but I don't think they were ever considered a free-wheeling, fire-wagon hockey team. In those 7 seasons, he was their leading scorer in all but one, and those teams finished 3rd, 8th, 2nd, 1st, 10th, 13th, and 22nd in team goals against. During those years, he accounted for 10.4, 19.3, 15.5, 13.3, 17.4, 13.7 and 13.2 percent of the teams goals.

If he gets top line wing minutes, he can play within a defensive system and still do what he was brought in here to do - score goals.

And he is doing that.

Thanks for the sanity check for all of the bridge jumpers here.

Hopefully that empty-netter gets the monkey off of his back. Staal needs to be the one that sparks scoring from the second line.
