Great Day for Hockey Commercial!

Postby heshootsandscores on Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:52 pm

I love it! Does anyone else just sit and smile and feel better with those great memories? Then all the little Mite players toppling the goalie...great commercial!

to each his own.. i guess most pens fans will like it but i think its pretty much a horrible commercial. its so unoriginal and such an overused song, redone by a horrible band so they can save money on publishing rights.

Anything that involves Geno's big one finger'd solute to philly last year is good by me.

The little bit on Philadelphia (Great day for Brotherly Love) in that commercial is enough for me to absolutely love it.

Yes. No matter how I'm feeling at the time, that commercial just spreads happy-thought-vibes through my whole body. :D

I like the concept of the song but can't stand thinking of The Clarks singing What a Wonderful World.

I usually have the tv muted so I enjoy it without the sound. :D

The Pens front office has come a long way in the PR department. I believe this is one of the best campaigns they've ever created!

My little brother is the kid at the beginning holding up the white Pens hat to the side of the outdoor screen.

My friend Keith is standing right behind him.

He lets us know it every time that commercial comes on.

I can remember back in the early 70s their PR department basically consisted of a single guy going from aisle to aisle, during a game, telling the person in the first seat, "we have a game tomorrow night pass it on"!

Did they turn down your idea? :)

They could have used Nat King Cole's version, but Nat wasn't singing for the game of ice hockey.
Everytime it is shown, think of the special memories of a happy spring.

*Lous Armstrong is the one I was thinking of. :)

The Clarks ripped off Joey Ramone's version of the song. Exact same music, cept the ***** from the Clarks singing. Cool commercial, but lame song.

no, its called TASTE and an opinion. basically, its an overly sappy commercial with a really bad cliche song overtop of it. that promo is anything and everything but original. its been done a million times. to see that commerical once in awhile is "oh, thats nice" to see it shoved down your throat every broadcast, every home game, and on nhl network now is waaaay too much.

the clarks song on top of it is unbelievably horrible, there is a very good reason why nobody cares about that band outside of pittsburgh. i guess if you are drunk enough anything is good to people here though.

Considering knives of ice is the only one against it, I'd say it's a success. Look at the response on youtube. Not everybody is a cynic, like yourself.
