I enjoy going to the Souper Bowl down on Fifth Ave. But get there early because it gets crowded.

There's a lot throughout downtown and in the strip, it all depends on where you're parking. A word of advice on parking, from 4-6pm you can't park on the street in downtown Pittsburgh. If you show up at 6:01pm you can park at any meter for free. I tend to goto the Tap Room, which is in the William Penn Hotel lobby before games. Primarily because it's halfway between where I typically park and the arena. They also always have Penn beers on tap. I always see a ton of people hanging out in the (I think it's called) Euro Cafe or something in the US Steel Building.

The Steelhead in the hotel across the street usually has Labatt specials on Penguin game days. However, the non-Penguin fan crowd tends to be a bit snobbish. The bar area gets crowded, but they usually have the Labatt girls in the hotel lobby. And there's a nice sitting area next to the bar.

The Souper Bowl, Milano, and the 5th Ave. Cafe are nice but tend to get very crowded.

From what I've seen on here, the Souper Bowl is a good choice, and you'll more than likely cross paths with an LGPer or two while you're there.

Souper Bowl is nice, but it gets crowded. The Steelhead is nice because you can take your beer outside if you want....and there isnt a long line for the Labatts.

How many of you guys/gals go to the Souper Bowl before games. I was probably standing next to one of you guys at one point in time, or even talked to you.

Just wondering.

5pm? Souper bowl is nice, but people are allowed to smoke~ which if fine, but with bad sinuses I can't take the it.

I wish the Tap room had, well, more room. :P It is a cozy place, but it crowds up fast on game day.

Not 100% sure, but I'd guess around 5:30 when most people leave work and want enough time to eat something and get a few drinks before the game starts.

Usually 6-6:15, but with a 7 pm start tonight, 5:30's prolly more accurate.

Villa Reale is a pizzeria, Italian restaurant on Smithfield. You can park for like $3 in Mellon Square after five. It's kind of walk, but the pizza is delicious and the beer isn't that expensive. Usually 90% full with Pens fans when I have gone.

Is there a bar close that you can actually watch the game at? I am going to southside later tonight but I want to watch the game in high definition and I live downtown. Any advice as to go places to watch the game?

The Red Ring in the Power Center(the new duquesne building) has a good happy hour special on thursdays. Or maybe its every day, i'm not sure. I think its 5-8 $1 domestic drafts. There is a very good chance i'll be there. Look for the "Bob Errey" jersey.

My favorite downtown bar is the Market Street Ale House. Decent draft selection and quite a few bottles, including some Belgians (which are a tad on the expensive side, but that's the cost of doing business where they do).

Hop the T from Gateway to Steel Plaza and it's not really all that different than being up towards the Arena.

Also, is yelling "Hossa to DET" currently how LGPers spot each other?

Hey, I have to do what I have to do to get drunk before the game so I don't have to spend $8 a beer in the arena. :D

I've tried, to no avail. I'm 99% certain that it's because once another lgper sees it's me who did the yelling, that he/she flees the premises.

Still, for the brave of heart and sturdy of stomach, I'll be at SB at 5:30, downstairs. First one's on me. I'll be at a table with 3 ladies.

HOssa-to-DET is the password.
