Gah.

Hopefully it's nothing serious and he can play. His line has really been starting to gel lately.

Kind of a misleading thread title. All the article says is he sat out practice and they'll decide if he'll play after tomorrow's skate.

he needs to get a guy that people will fear on his line but can also play with him. hes doing too much of the dirty work.. there was a play last night whwere i think i counted about 8 cross checks from souray i think behind the net. sid does not need to be defending himself

There are a couple a problems with getting someone to rid shotgun with Crosby. First off, the guy HAS to be able to play. He can't just be a one-dimensional goon. Second, he has to have wheels. Crosby almost always plays at top speed. That's part of the reason Ryan Malone never quite clicked with him, at least not to the extent Malone and Malkin did.

A big, physical guy that can play, can keep up with Crosby, and beat the crap out of anyone that looks sideways at Sid is going to be hard to find. Maybe even impossible.

Taking cross-checks is part of the game, regardless of who you play with.

You can put whoever the hell you want on Crosby's line, he'll still be doing a ton of the dirty work. Its just the way he plays. Being an extremely skilled player that isn't afraid to muck and dig in the corners and do the little things that helps win games is what has always made Sid such a special player.

Yeah, that's the trade off with Crosby. He plays along the boards and in the corners and he initiates contact. He's going to get banged up in the process. Hopefully never to Forsberg levels but I think Forsberg was just born fragile like Lemieux was.

ew... It actually caught my attention last night, near the end of the 3rd, I noticed Sid going to the bench looking like he was smarting. He was skating as if there was something wrong.

I even said: I hope he's not hurt.

Then, I forgot all about it til I saw this.

Maybe if you could remove the pyscho-part out of him. Dude was a ticking time-bomb.

I don't see him much. I know he's talented, but I've never heard much of him as far as fighting goes. Then again, he's LA's captain and is signed to a long term deal for very reasonable numbers. He's not going anywhere.

The only established guys in the league I can think of that fit the bill are Jarome Iginla and Brendan Morrow. Milan Lucic may end up getting to be that type as well.

And that's where you run into the next difficulty. As guys like that are so hard to come by, the teams that have one aren't going to give them away. You'd likely have to overpay to get one.

All Crosby does is play hurt. Didn't he play the last 20 games and the first round of the playoffs with a broken foot 2 years ago? When is he not playing hurt. I really hope Crosby doesn't get injury after injury. After Leclair took out Malkin in the preseason game, I thought for sure Malkin was an injury prone type player. I guess it's completely opposite with these two, as Malkin hasn't missed a game since then.

Perhaps this deserves its own topic, but what do you guys think about the new injury policy?

I think it's pretty lame. I would think that an opponent would know what type of injury a player has by scouting or video. Not disclosing a player's specific injury just irritates fans.
