How is Dupuis better suited for top 6 duty

Postby Noise on Fri Nov 07, 2008 2:49 pm

than Kennedy, Fedotenko, Cooke, and some of the guys in the minors like Pesonen and Minard?

I'm aware that he's not in the top 6 to score goals, but I don't think his intangibles add up to him being any better suited than any of those guys.

You're kidding right?

About the only one of those guys that I would consider to replace talent wise with Dupuis is Kennedy. All the others are lacking something or other.

Cooke is NOT a top 6 winger... he is a simple agitator that isn't a total penalty liability.

Fedostinko.... are you watching the same games I am?

Pesonen and Minard are too inexperienced to be a top 6 winger and if they can't crack our bottom 2 lines... then something has to be said for that.

I think earlier on, Pascal Dupuis got the nod with Sidney Crosby because of his speed, which I believe is the best of the guys you listed. Also, Dupuis did have a 20 goal season in Minnesota one year. That's more than you can say for the others, save Ruslan Fedotenko.

Other than those two things (which aren't huge differences IMO), I don't see a lot of difference between everyone in that group.

Fedotenko is a more gifted offensive player then Dupuis...

I think Therrien rewards players who play hard, play disciplined, practice hard, and stay true to the system. I think that's universally the reason why certain guys get opportunities and other guys don't. Of course, most people look at it as Therrien arbitrarily playing favorites but I choose to think that a successful NHL coach isn't that petty.

I think Dupuis is in over his head as a top sixer but things will shake out properly if that continues. Fedotenko was looking good for several games before he was knocked out of the lineup. I'd like to see him play with Malkin and Sykora.

Of the three listed, only Fedotenko compares to Dupuis in ability to play top 6.

I think anyone who mentions Pessonen should be shot from here on out. I am tired of hearing his name.

I thought dupuis looked good on malkins line and max looked good on sid's line. if fedotenko and staal can pick it up a little as the season goes on, you are looking at another strong, solid, CUP CONTENDING team.

i think this team is a lot better than its showing right now. and i really look forward to whitney and gonchars return

right now Dupuis looks like Staal when he's on the puck. . .

but you know maybe he'll work better with Malkin at center than Crosby. Malkin seems to gel with players quicker.
