Evgeni getting his points

Evgeni still getting points, even with the new and different spot on the PP. Great to see Geno being quoted all the time now in articles. :P Fierce competition with Sidney and Evgeni, but I see more respect of their games; plus they want to win and hate to lose. Also think loyality to team is huge part of their make up.

Yeah, a lot of people used to speculate what about Sid vs. Malkin competition, etc. Honestly Sid just wants to win straight up, I don't think he really cares all that much as long as the team is winning games.

“Sid helped me a lot my first year,” Malkin said. “He’s (a) good captain. He’s (a) good partner.”

“We’re friends; I want to produce and he wants to produce,” Crosby said. “I don’t think that’s really an issue. We want to make sure we’re doing what we can to help the team. We want the puck going into the net.

Very nice.

Winning the cup is his priority, but right behind that is the Hart trophy/Conn Smythe for sure. I really doubt if he cares about the Art Ross. Actually scratch the Hart, i'm guessing the Pearson holds more meaning.

Great article. Love seeing Malkin get more attention this year. Love his little interviews and quotes in the papers this year. :)

Any word on his thumb?

Malkin COULD Join Elite Company.

He hasn't already?

Deserving of being spoken in the same breath as Jagr and Lemieux? In the way they are referencing it, no. In the way most people would think of it, no one is close to them yet. Both Crosby and Malkin are gonna be there if they stay in Pittsburgh though.

Dare I say Malkin > Crosby??

So far this year thats true. I think one thing that goes unnoticed by many is how durable Geno is. He hasn't missed a single game since his shoulder injury in the preseason of his rookie year. That is incredible. Hes proven so far to be more durable than Sid.

Wee bit off topic, but did anyone notice that the misspelled Lemieux at the end of the article?

The one place you would expect to see if spelled correctly...

Probably just a typo, but still...

Well, I mean...that's kind of unfair. It's not like Sid's missed games were because he had a sore wrist or anything like that. He had a ridiculously bad high-ankle sprain. I don't think durability plays a role in that.

He's also missed games due to groin tweaks and stuff. Its fair to say that Malkin is a more durable player.

At this point in their careers, I'd have to agree with you, high ankle sprain/separated shoulder notwithstanding.

I am certain that Malkin is going to be the best player in the league, soon. Maybe he is now. I just know that, with his natural scoring ability and frame to fill out, he's got higher ceiling, whereas Sid, I think, is close to his ceiling already.

I agree. However, I think it is a bit unfair to say Crosby is anywhere close to his ceiling. The kid is only 21 and years away from his prime. But I've been saying it for awhile, Malkin is going to be the best player in the world, if he isn't already. The guy's got all the tools, and he's just an absolute horse out there.
