Columbus Pens Fans - Saturday night

Postby DrBoni on Fri Nov 14, 2008 2:45 pm

Anyone up for a viewing party somewhere? Are there any "Pittsburgh" themed bars around?

And how old does it make you feel that I could ask the question three years ago. :)

Last time I saw him he was a lad of 15. That's who I still see when he posts.

Boni, I know you didn't JUST turn 21, but seeing it in print sends it home that you're not that kid anymore.

Pittsburgh Themed bars in columbus don't exist.

If by themed you mean they'd turn the game on...that's another story.

Finding a bar with a decent TV where the staff actually understand the difference between and regular channel and HD channel is again another story.

I'd say Damon's (because they're onion loafs are good and ribs are not bad), but I have not lived in Columbus for over 10 years, so I'm not sure if they're even still in business :)

Check out the Post Gazette listing of Steelers bars in ohio. Id call them to see if they have any problems turning on the game.

http://www.post-gazette.com/steelernati ... t.asp#Ohio

I live in Cincinnati and the local Steelers bar Martinos now carries NHL center ice after many requests. Its taken a few years but we get about 20-30 pens fans for some of the bigger matchups and playoffs! Steelers Nation is feeding the ever growing Penguins Nation!

Well, I have centre ice, but when i feel like going out to watch the game, i go to winking lizard crosswoods - 270 & 23. they always put the game on for me and there are usually a few pens fans to chat with. If you wanna go tomorrow night, lemme know. I might be able to make that happen - I have 34 beers left on my world tour that i need to drink down.

I'm down. Especially if there are usually some other Pens fans who are interested.

I just miss interacting with other Pens fans...big time. I've been here since July and I could definitely use it. So if you're reading this...

COLUMBUS PENS FANS
I'll be at the Winking Lizard tomorrow night. Game starts at 7:30 so we'll meet at 7. Look for the guy wearing a black Fleury jersey. First name: Ken.

I don't understand by what you mean "themed".

Some of you seem to take it as just meaning they'll put a game on.

I think of themed as in there being, you know, volume too. Also putting something on the main TV in HD instead of some small TV in a corner.

And there are quite a few Penguins fans in Columbus. I see ball caps all the time

Pretty much just a place where you can regularly find a group of fans on game night. I know I've seen tons of Pens fans. Some of the stores stock as much Pens gear as CBJ.

a few weeks ago, I was in the lower level for the CBJ/Canucks game. I had my Penguins pullover on and this guy a couple rows in front of me turns to me and says after noticing the Penguins Gear..."Where'd you get that, some yard sale?" I told him that by the looks of the attendance at Nationwide, he'd better get some Pens gear as well... The CBJ is on borrowed time in Columbus.

As a recent ex-Columbus-il who lived there 11 years as a rabid steelers/pens fan, I'd suggest Buffalo Wild Wings on Bethel Road. The staff is used to being inundated with Burgh fans, and is always willing to through a game on a big screen as long as there's not 4 or 5 local games on at the same time. Right now, I'd wonder if the Crew games might get in the way (if the Crew and CBJ and Cavs were playing at the same time). Anyway, Sundays are great there - they have 1/2 the place for steeler fans and 1/2 for brownie and kitty kat fans.

Since it's 4:00 and there have been no replies, I'm going to assume that tonight's a dud.

We'll try again some other time and take some more time to plan in advance.
