That'd be a real shame if he gets claimed.

VA BPF - I'm thinking the same thing. Pens could use a RH shot on the left-wing for the power-play, someone able to fight and play, and additional leadership with 3 major leads blown at home in the first 15 games of the season. I'm not saying Shanny has to be a top 3 line forward or automatically #1 PP minutes but this team has such an obvious need for a RH shooter.

edit: I better add, anything more than $500,000 pro-rated is too much at this point in the season.

Bissonnette can't crack the lineup, why would Shanahan? There's not one guy I'd take out of the lineup to insert him.

Bissonnette isn't playing. They can send him down where he can play. That seems pretty simple to me.

HH - No offense but I'll take Shanahan on the 4th line over Godard.

This means the Pens only have 12 forwards. Something is getting done somewhere.

According to Andy Strickland, it is down to the Devils and Flyers
http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Andy-Str ... es/5/17880

"I am told a decision has been made as the final two teams came down to New Jersey and Philadelphia.A friend close to the Pittsburgh Pengiuns tells me Pittsburgh was never interested and was never in the running."

If they aren't getting Shanahan, is something else afoot?

I doubt anything is up, the kid needs to play. But, I'm pretty sure the Pens could of gave him a conditioning assignment which would of meant he wouldn't have to clear waivers, so maybe something is up. FWIW, Shanny on the PP would be a great addition.

I agree with HH. Bissonette isn't playing. They're sending him somewhere he can play. The Pens haven't carried extra players on the roster all that often since Shero took over, so the only surprise with this move for me comes from the fact it didn't happen sooner. He rarely dressed, and when he did, he barely got on the ice. Big picture, this is pretty much a non-story.

That said, good on Bissonette for doing a 180, getting his act together, and making it to the NHL when it wasn't that long ago that the organization basically told him to go home.

Maybe they are getting Shanny and keeping it a big secret and all of a sudden he'll be skating the powder blue uniform tommorrow night. Sid is said to be a fan of him....

I'd like to get Ryan Craig, he can kill penalties, play infront of the net on the PP, and has good size.

according to Tampa Bay Tribune, Pens were in attendance during the Bolts-Wings game
"Erik Erlendsson reports scouts from the "New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators and the Toronto Maple Leafs" attended the Lightning-Red Wings game."

It is strange they would be scouting the teams since Pens just played Detroit and we saw Tampa in the preseason.

Estimated Cap Space now is $1,054,933, without Gonchar and Whitney since neither are on LTIR, hence they count.

Suprise, suprise rumor is Recchi and Roberts undermined Melrose
"It wasn’t just the coaching staff that undermined Melrose but I’m told it was aging players Gary Roberts and Mark Recchi who also went out of their way to undermine him as well. "

Could they possibly just be sending him down because he isn't going to be playing on the big team?
