At the deadline I think Eaton and Dupuis are the most expendable. Boucher might also be expendable.

But who knows what happens leading up to then.

Deadline deal: Satan, Dupuis, Goligoski and a 2nd for Gaborik.

Boucher won't go anywhere. Why would they trade for him and then just get rid of him that fast? If anything I'd say Gill or Eaton.

No offense guys...but Minnesota scoffs at that offer big time...

A UFA, 4th line wing, Young defensenman with a lot of talent and a pick for an elite goal scorer...

Please tell me you're kidding?

I wouldn't even deal Goligoski for Gaborik. My interest in him is zero, unless we're underpaying massively.

Seriously, his bones are made of glass, and he plays when he wants to.

Won't happen but it's more like a UFA, 4th line wing, talented young d-man, and a pick for a goner. I don't think Minny would re-sign him.

I'm pretty sure, as contracts go, that Gonch has another season with us and Gill is up after this season.

Swap Kovalchuk for Gaborik and I'd take that.

Then Minnesota should be prepared to be disappointed, because unless Gaborik signs before he is traded, they are going to get less than what we gave for Hossa.

His value could possibly be higher than Gill or Eaton's, and the Pens will have a logjam of PP capable d-men when Gonch and Whitney are back.

Eaton I'd say is the most expendable, but that doesn't mean he's the most likely to be gone. . . what could the Pens get for him?

We'll see. But the rumors were that Montreal was offering Higgins for Hossa but Atlanta wanted a package of players instead of value...

No elite player is every given away, not matter what his contract situation is...

Craig Rivet got traded for Josh Georges and a 1st round pick...

Deadline, nobody comes cheap...

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but the Pens aren't going to trade for Gaborik.

Pens have plenty of ability to score. If anything I see the Pens getting some more grit.

PensRTehBest wrote:I was just wondering what everyone was thinking about this. My guess is one of the defenseman soon. We definitely have extra dmen when every1 gets back. Hal Gil seems pretty expendable to me. Idk what his contract is or anything. I also think Gonchar is gone after this year regardless of what happens. But i don't have any idea about the forwards. What does everyone think?

I'd be surprised if Shero trades any defensman soon, and I wouldn't rule out Gonchar after this year either.

that's a tough call on Gill, it'll be interesting to see what's done there - He's quite valuable on the penalty kill.

Who knows what'll happen when Whit/Sarge come back, but right now they're at the bare minimum forwards and only +1 D-men up with the big club.... They've got two open spots on the roster as it is right now....

Goligoski is a greater "package" than the entire value of what the pens sent to Atlanta. Add to that a pick, a legit scoring line winger, and a very solid 3rd liner for 2+ years and it is just absurd
