The OFFICIAL "I Worship Dupuis" Thread

I for one, welcome our new overlord.

Good FREAKING riddance, people. If I have to read one more of these, I'm gonna off myself!

Fact:

Pascal Dupuis scored 12 points in 16 games last year playing on Sid's wing. Colby Armstrong had 24 points in 54 games on Sid's wing. Now, please, for the love of God, Indiana Jones, Darth Vader, or whatever diety you pray to, please tell me how Dupuis is any worse? No, he's not Marian Hossa. No, he's not Miroslav Satan. No, he's not your Grandmother (who you swear has hockey talent). He's a fast player who isn't afraid to get hit. An awful lot like Talbot without the tendency for clutch plays. And finally, NO, he is not keeping Pesonen out of the NHL.

Nobody WANTS him on Sid's wing. But as a 4th line player, he's pretty darn good. Not afraid to chase pucks. He kills penalties, which is pretty neato. Last I checked (30 seconds ago) the Pens PK was 10th at 84%. After playing Detroit, who owned us. So LAY OFF.

Now I expect to be trolled. Repeatedly. But hey, this post was cathartic. Now I feel better about myself and my body, and that's what matters. In conclusion:

Nothing wrong with Dupuis. He's very fast, plays hard, plays physical, is good defensively, generally in position, good PK'er, seemingly is well liked and a good locker room guy. And he'll chip in here and there on the score sheet. He was in over his head playing in a top six role. No reason to ignore that he's good in his more natural role. To me, he's a better version of Colby Armstrong.

Well, worship is a bit of an exaggeration.

Yeah, worship is far exaggerated, but I do think he has a place on this team.

What's funny is that, just a month ago, most were saying that if he was just played in his appropriate role -- 3rd or 4th line -- he'd be a perfect fit for the team. Now he's on the fourth line and logging fewer minutes than he ever has on this team, yet he's getting just as much, if not more, flack than he ever has.

As the OP said, Dupuis is what he is: a speedy, defensive forward who isn't afraid to get hit or initiate contact. His value is on the PK and in the defensive end.

Don't blame the player for the role he was put into. It's not his fault he was perceived as a top-line winger. He simply did what he was asked to do.

I worship Free Candy.

But that flying Subway Sandwich hit Dupuis had in Boston did secure himself a little spot in my heart for the time being.

Unfortunately, I think as of right now he is overpaid. Way too much for a 4th liner / PKer. Now if his role with the team increases, then that's a different story.

Oh Great Dupuis,

We humbly request that you have a breakout game against your old team, the Minnesota Wild.

Love,

Your adoring subjects.

PS: You'll have about 8 minutes of ice time to do it on a line with Eric Godard.

Love,
