I had been wondering where they had been - welcome back.

After a night like last night, reading the grades is more entertaining than the game itself was...

Well, you are only stupid if you meet all of the following criteria:

1. You voted for The Body
2. You voted for Franken
3. You have Wild season tickets

Are the Wild taking the "Ruiners of Hockey" mantra away from the Devils? That was the most boring game I've seen in a long time.

They took it away several years ago. The Devils actually try to score some nowadays, as opposed to the Wild, who play for a 0-0 tie and hope to win in the shootout.

You were harsh on Sabu, that puck was bouncing all the way to the goal after Zigo sent it back after his second whack. The guys whould have had a shut out and a well deserved one if the face off didn't get muffed and Gill would have not let the puck even get to the goal.

The goaltending grade was a pretty generous one. I almost would have docked his grade even more, because that soff goal basically cost us the game when you're dealing with a stupid team like Minnesota. (So I guess it's really Minnesota's fault! Stupid boring defensive Minnesota! You get an F!!!!!!) But these things happen and that's just my subjective opinion and other team lack of oversights led to the goal as well. Other than that, the grades and observations are right on. It could have been worse and at least we got a point.

Still. What a crap game. If we were going to lose, it could have at least been an interesting game to watch.

how about the play where fedotenko tackled the wild defensmen and the wild defensmen subsequently got called for holding? That was a great piece of officiating.

Welcome back, missed your thoughts on the games.

Can we play a home and home with minny every five years?

How about we only play them in Minny so Jerez and I have a chance to see the Pens in person? They play a bit more exciting brand of hockey at home, too.

only if you ignore the two or three HUGE saves he made to keep them in the game. it was fluky goal, but that happens to every goalie at least once a year. most other goalies don't keep it at one goal though.

My only two comments... just because the Penguins ran into the Wild wall-defense doesn't mean the offense deserves a bad grade. Malkin looked worse that Crosby from F level. At least Crosby seemed to be on time. Malkin looked like he was a second behind on everything.

Very solid and good recovery, absolutely. Didn't seem totally stand-on-his-head huge to me, so eh, I guess I would have given him a C. But whatever...I still think he's a good goalie. I always hated grading when I was a teaching adjunct because of the whining students so I won't push the issue further. :P

I think the grades are pretty accurate, as always.

What is missing is the solid "A" or "A+" for Backstrom. (I say this having missed the Penguins goal. My 8 week old daughter started crying and screaming as soon as the Wild got "their" goal, so I was distracted. I was impressed that an eight week old demonstrated that kind of understanding of the game. Maybe had I left her in the room to see the Penguins answer in ten seconds she would have calmed down.)

I would think that against an average goaltending performance, the Pens would have probably found the net 2 or three times in regulation. Thus the lack of PP pressure and the shootout lineup would not gather much discussion.
