Hockey News top 10 duos: Crosby and Malkin #2

...behind Ovechkin and Semin. I wouldn't have a problem with that if Semin had accomplished something. But he hasn't.

Why don't they count Ovechkin's start?

Crosby-Malkin: 1 and 10 in scoring.
Ovechkin-Semen: 2 and 18 in scoring.

Who cares if he does? The hilarity of that ranking is that Malkin is doing better than Semin and Crosby is doing better than Ovechkin.

I think everyone in hockey would have a consensus to take Crosby/Malkin as your top duo.

How this guy has Toews/Kane (as much as I like them) above Spezza/Heatley, Zetterberg/Franzen, and Lecavalier/St.Louis is mind-boggling. Maybe in a year or two.

Getzlaf/Perry so high? Come on. Henrik and Daniel Sedin so high? Come on. Where's Richards/Gagne? Where's Phaneuf/Regier?

Don't they play on the same Line? Not that it matters in hockey but maybe that was the factor.

I see now that Crosby and Malkin's 52 points to AO/Semin's 49 really puts us in a hole.

I guess the fact that Crosby and Malkin are the best two playmakers in the world means nothing, nor does it mean anything that Semin was mediocre his whole career until the last month and half.

They do not play on the same line. They are both left wingers. Ovechkin plays with Backstrom at center and Semin plays with Fedorov at center.

So again, it's dumb that they are #1.

I really hope everybody is healthy on January 14! A pens/caps game for the ages. :)

I wouldn't swap Sid and Evgeni for anyone in the nhl.

semin has started off the season hot before and has cooled down. i think he is really good, but not malkin/crosby/ovechkin good. nobody is in the same class as those 3.

Those lists are designed to draw interest and generate discussion, website hits etc. You could argue every single duo from 1-10, and that's really the objective of the article.

It also reminds us that this is a pretty good time to be a fan of the NHL - there are some great players all over the league now....

They played together Semin's last couple of games before the injury. How often does Sid and Malkin play together? Homer anyone? ;)

That said there's no way I'd take any duo over Sid and Geno, and if Richards/Gagne isn't on the list that's a joke.

If you'd look at the games they played together and when they didn't, I believe they've been separated more often than together.

That said, I also think that the author mentions that these pairs are the ones he likes to watch most (or he mentions enjoying watching these pairs...). It's one guys opinion.

Richards/Gagne should be there before Towes/Kane. I'd even say it might be too early to see Getzlaf/Perry there... Drury/Gomez? Probably not. Vanek/Pominville? What about defensemen? Chara/Wideman? That might be a stretch...
