Any takers?

How about Whitney + 2nd for Corey Perry?

Perry can then be Sid's winger.

How about Crosby for Hossa? Thats not much less likely than Shero trading Whitney.

Explain. Are you saying you wouldn't trade a 25 year old defenseman for a 23 year old budding power forward? Or are you saying Whitney is as important as Crosby and would never be traded by Shero?

I find that hard to believe. If Gretzky can be traded, anyone can be traded. Whitney isn't Bobby Orr here.

Neither Gretzky nor Orr signed a ridiculously favorable contract in the Salary cap era.

Corey Perry has a long-term favorable contract as well. $5.325m cap hit until 12/13.

Well there's the question, do you trade your projected best defender for a player thats gonna be your 3rd or 4th best forward?

Hard to say. The 3rd or 4th best forward on this team may very well be the best on 90% of the other teams in the NHL.

Right now, our strength is at center and defense. Our wings are weak in the minors and in the NHL. 3 of our top 4 wings are UFAs next year: Satan, Sykora, and Fedotenko. Talbot is an RFA next year.

I guess that depends largely on how well you project your other other defensemen to be, and how soon they'll get there. Plus, being the 3rd or 4th best forward on this team doesn't necessarily mean that guy stinks, considering who he'd be in line behind.

I'm not advocating Ryan Whitney be traded, and I don't think he will be; I'm just answering your question. :D

I'm not advocating Whitney to be traded either. I'd rather keep Whit, Gogo, and Letang for the long term.

If there were a way to get a decent winger that wasn't a ghost floater (see Satan) for Sid's line, the world would be a better place :)

Probably not Anaheim...they have a plethora of NHL-ready d-men down there, but because of the vets that stuck around and because bonuses (also applies to Ryan) count towards the Upper Limit without a 7.5% overage chance (i.e. the first true hard cap since the lockout)...guys like Ryan and d-men like Festerling, Salcido and Mikkelson continue taking the bus...

No real need for the Ducks to take Gogo, especially for a player like Ryan who is better now and has a higher ceiling then Gogo...
