any tips for attending pens practices

Postby 67pens on Thu Nov 20, 2008 12:56 pm

Sorry if this seems elementary, but my kids want to go see the Pens practice and I was wondering if any here have any helpful tips. Do they allow photos at practice, any chance for autographs, etc.?

Thanks for any help.

Looks like they're at Southpointe tomorrow from 12-2. No problem with photos and lots of opportunities for autographs in the parking lot next to Jay's after practice.

Bundle up, it's very cold in there and the metal seats don't help!

thanks for the info. I don't want to go and breach any etiquette in place for the sessions.

Thanks for the tips about where to go to perhaps find autographs - much appreciated :D .

Totally agree with caramia, it's VERY cold at Southpointe.

This was almost 10 years ago, but they were practicing at Southpoint, so it's somewhat relevant.

They come out of the back of the arena, after practice. It'll generally be easy to find, because you won't be the only one waiting. :)

They also had a few of the younger guys at the time (think Martin Sonnenberg) actually up at a table in the restaurant/bar signing autographs for whatever reason. I doubt they do that regularly, but you might get lucky.

Ryan Whitney was out skating with the other d-men, and not looking to shabby either. It was great to see him out on the ice. MAF wasn't out at all.

I really enjoyed watching the camaraderie of the guys. Jordan Staal was messing with Eric Goddard, and had his stick twisted in Godard's jersey and couldn't get it loose. How refreshing to see these guys enjoy what they do.

Had a chance to say howdy and talk a little bit with Mr. Ray Shero. Awesome individual - humble, gracious, very approachable.

My kids had a great time taking pics of the Pens and getting a photo with Mr. Shero - great day! :D
