I hate the Wings but I'd say Yzerman or Lemieux.

Meh.... Mario is the greatest. I don't care what people say. Nobody I've seen has carried a team on his back quite like Mario did.

That doesn't make you the best captain.

Leading by example is certainly one of the ways captains are measured. And I don't think anyone led by example better than Mario.

I'd put Yzerman and Messier as the clear cut best 2. Yzerman would be my choice as best overall.

Hmmm. Isn't this something players and officials would be better qualified to vote for than fans? I dunno. :?

Lindros as greatest cheap shot artist. Not at all dismayed to see it catch up with him.

Glad to know someone else sees/saw it too. Never saw anyone deliver the knee-whack after the refs turned up ice quite like him. Like Baron Mikel Scicluna with the foreign object. Great player; cheap as Ikea.

Avec le premier pick de 1984 repêchage de la LNH les Penguins de Pittsburgh sélectionner Laval nombre de soixante-six Mario Lemieux

Lemieux
Yzerman
Messier
Sakic

No specific order, they all won cups, they all had decent players around them, etc.

I always think a great captain has to be one that can help motivate a team to want more cups after winning one.

Agreed, all where great captains, you can't lump on as better or another. I would like to add Scott Stevens to the list, The devils have no been quite the same since he retired

Most fan choices are very poor to begin with. This year's all-star voting is a prime example.

Some Captains never speak in the locker room, their play does the talking and leads the team.

How on earth can they make any decision about a team? Why do they have message boards? Why do you bother having an account and posting on these message boards?
