very nice.. i was a little surprised to see the difference in even strength goals for.. seems like they had a bit of a difficulty scoring those earlier in the year.

Ha~ take that "cup final hangover!"
They may want to focus on starting the game with more zing so not needing to disrupt lines in the 3rd.

Steady and consistent is the plan until April.

Way to go pens!

Maybe, just maybe, Gonchar and Whitney are sorely missed on the PP.

I really hope the "Fire Mike Yeo" comment was sarcastic, especially since you spent some time discussing the lack of effort by the players.

Was Malone even on the top unit at the begining of last year let alone much at all? He wasn't really an integral part until they moved Malkin back to the point.

It's missing Gonchar and the horrible performance of not scoring on a 5-on-3 that is hurting the numbers right now.

IIRC he established himself while Crosby was out (plus fed off of Malkin catching fire). The power play was just Malkin's line with Whitney and Gonchar. So he was deemed integral enough that they took Whitney and Sykora off the first unit instead of him when they added Hossa and Crosby.

Basically the only problem they have is teh powerplay, and that can't stay cold like it has been.

Hopefully they can get Boucher up to speed so they can rotate some guys through when it's struggling. I think Goligoski is in there simply b/c he's the only guy that knows it and is willing to take shots on net.

If not, we can pad some of Scuds stats and line him up out there  At least we can eliminate some shorties!

Scuds for PP QB!

Nah, we need to save Scud's offensive talent for the shootout.

2% difference in the PK is a wide margin?

malone was a fixture once crosby got hurt. so i guess about half the year.

before sid's injury: sid, geno, recchi then sykora in front of net, gonchar, whitney
after injury: geno, sykora, malone in front of net, gonchar, whitney

...and that's how it stayed almost every single PP until hossa

The Senators started out 15-2 in the season after they went to the Stanley Cup. After that it was a masacre drop.

Penguins are taking the cup this year though.
