Sundin isn't coming cheap. Shero would have to move more than those three guys to make room. Other teams aren't going to be lining up to do Shero a favor and take salary off his hands. And even if they did, Shero isn't going to destroy the team's depth so they can sign an aging (though likely still effective) center.

None of the defensemen on the roster are going to be moved unless a defenseman is coming back right now anyway. Shero said as much when he acquired Boucher. By all accounts, Ryan Whitney will be back relatively soon, but I can't see him making a roster move until he's played at least a couple week's worth of games, maybe not until he's been back a month.

I agree it's most likely pie in the sky, but it would be great to get a top notch player for just money...

Yes, because waiving this "dead weight" and having no one else want them because they're "dead weight" will...not do anything to our cap number.

It's been a while since we had someone suggest releasing a player, in spite of there being no such thing. Maybe now's the chance.

I think Sundin would still be effective, but I'd stop short of calling him top notch especially since he hasn't been playing. If and when he does sign, he'll basically be playing himself into game shape for at least a month if not more.

Factoring in contract and the team's needs, I'd rather see them talk to Shanahan than Sundin, and I'm not really sold on that idea either.

Malkin more than earned that HT. He was working hard and creating on every shift.

Full credit to the Isles, who probably deserved better, but it would be nice to see a 60 minute effort out of the Pens for once.

Pens sleepwalk through most of the first two periods, falling behind 3-0 and lulling the Isles into a false sense of security. Pens get some momentum from the PK, getting 3 good SH scoring chances, but not goals. Orpik scores of Weight's foot late in the 2nd. Crosby and Malkin are re-united in the third and go off, pulling out the win.

The Pens gave up the first 3 goals.
MT was decried as the antichrist and Malkin was optioned to LA in a number of varied scenarios.
The Pens scored 5 straight, 3 of them by Malkin.
MT got kudos for pairing Croskin and Malkin was declared untouchable.
The End.

If Malkin wasn't his winger tonight he'd probably have zero points. AO is surrounded by talent both on O and D. Other than Malkin, Pens have NO goal scorers. That's pretty scary.

On a positive note: the pens will win the Cup just because.

By "goal scorers" I mean dudes that when they get the puck you think "He's going to score!" I'm not talking about theoretical goal scorers, like Sykora or Satan.

The Edit function is also a win.

I've only seen the last period on the replay of tonight's game. Malkin's the best player in the NHL. There's no argument.

It was the Crosby and Malkin show in the third. Malkin got the trick, but Crosby pretty much made the first two goals he scored. Of course, Malkin set up Crosby's. Don't forget the Crosby "non-goal." It was something else watching those two dominate together.

Yeah, Crosby got screwed on the disallowed goal. Because the player hit the goalie? Weak call.

I had a dream last night that I had a very in-depth discussion about Buck Rogers and Star Wars figures with Evgeni Malkin.

Michel Therrien is so dumb. Putting Crosby and Malkin together isn't an adjustment. It's a desperate act. What an idiot. :D
