But, the article on ESPN.com talks about how Alexie Kovalev is MIA this year. Would he fit on this team if he could be had for cheap? He played well here.

How much is he against the cap? He is definitely not doing very well this year, but when he gets hot, he stays hot. I would think this team would need a more physical winger or power forward rather than an aging goal-scorer.

To answer the first part of your question, no, I do not think Kovalev fits on this team. I love Kovalev as a player, he was one of my favorite Pens when he was here. But he's at his best when he possesses the puck all over the offensive zone. Unfortunately, Sid and Geno both are at their best when they have possession. What fits much better for the Pens right now are "trigger men" type wingers, guys who thrive on the quick shot, one-timer, or rebound.
