Other tidbits:

Zigo didn't practice but did skate with the Strength and Condtioning coach.

Lovejoy was paired up with Scuds (until they edited the article yet again and said that is was now Scuds-Eaton and Lovejoy-Gogo  )

Cool. Good to get MAF back in the lineup hopefully within a week or so?

I hope that Zigo's back soon. I think I underestimated his faceoff skills...

Now it's saying Lovejoy will play with Goligoski.

They keep editing...

That article says Lovejoy was paired with Goligoski. I'm going to guess that pairing plays very sparingly. Always good to see an undrafted free agent working his way into the NHL in any event.

I'm probably one of the very few, but Gill will be missed. His long reach and size is key on the PK.

Agreed. Gill is a tremendous penalty killer. Him and Scuderi are excellent on the PK. They shouldn't be paired even strength though...

I have it on VERY good word Fleury will be out at least another week and one half. His injury is a little more tricky than what most think. That's all I can say.

So, should we expect Ben Lovejoy to maybe get a little powerplay time tonight?

I also enjoy the extra puck possession time with his FO's. However, can't forget that they turned in a tremendous season last year with an abysmal FO record.

Tease. ;)

I'm hopeful that the pairings work out, but if it were me, I'd rather pair a vet (Eaton, Scuderi) with a rook (Goligoski, Lovejoy), especially since Lovejoy says the he and Goligoski don't have a history of playing together at the AHL level.

I will not miss Hal Gill at even-strength. I hope to not miss him on the PK, but we'll see HH. ;)

It was to my understanding that Lovejoy said they DID have a history playing together, which would presumably be one of the main reasons they're gonna be paired together.

he said they playing in WBS together and were friends, but they didn't actually play together that much. I think Therian put him with Gogo because it may make him slightly more comfortable during his first NHL game playing with someone he knows and isn't intimidated by.

And also because that pairing is likely to get the least amount of time.

From the linked article in the original post:

“We weren’t paired up all that often,” Lovejoy said. “We were both rookies and were paired with some older players. I know his game. We played some power play time together last year. We killed penalties. He’s a special talent with offensive abilities. I’m excited to be out there with him.”
