Who Went To The PIT-BUF Game?

Postby doublewinder on Wed Dec 24, 2008 10:09 pm

For those who went, I had a couple of questions. If you wouldn't mind, could you answer? I apologize for not clairifying earlier, but I am especially interested in sports fanbases, loyalty, and demographics...particularly for our team's travel...so if you have any answers if you'd share that would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

1) Were there a lot of PIT fans there?
-How many, what % would you say?

2) Was this the normal amount they bring?
-If not, what is, and was this more/less?

3) How did this compare to when BUF is at PIT?
-Does PIT bring a similar amount to what BUF has there?

4) On TV….it looked like there were a lot of PIT fans. However, when they scored…it sounded much quieter than I would have thought. I would have expected PIT to have one of the larger turnouts given they sell out nightly, play nearby, and travel well.
-Is this case?
-If not, why…is the Pens base just not that big?

Thanks!

I told you all I have an interest for sports demography and fanbase details.
Now...did anybody go?

No offense, but if you do have a real interest in this -- shouldn't you already know the answer to number 4?

You don't have to go to the game in order to be fan.

Sometimes tickets can be expensive and hard to get. Therefore, looking at who attends a game shows very little about the actual "sport's demographic and fanbase" and is really just plain stupid.

If it helps your research paper though, there were a lot of pens fans at the St. Louis game. But feel free to ignore the fact that a lot of people might have just turned up to watch crosby and malkin for the first time and might not be considered "fans."

i was there!

1) Were there a lot of PIT fans there?
-probably 5-10%. closer to 5%.

2) Was this the normal amount they bring?
-i was there 2 seasons ago and this was more than there were last time. last time there was a HUGE number of leafs fans there. go figure.

3) How did this compare to when BUF is at PIT?
- i don't think i've ever been to a PIT/BUF game at home so ???

4) On TV….it looked like there were a lot of PIT fans. However, when they scored…it sounded much quieter than I would have thought. I would have expected PIT to have one of the larger turnouts given they sell out nightly, play nearby, and travel well.
- i for one was screaming for joy when the Pens scored.
- there was a blizzard in NE PA and W NY. i know at least 3 people who didn't go because of this. i'm sure there were others. also, it's harder and more expensive to get tickets to Buffalo than say Washington or Columbus because they were selling out their games consistently.
