Good on the PK

Postby pittsoccer33 on Fri Dec 26, 2008 4:30 pm

It was sort of a joke to run thru the list of all the guys who were "good on the pk"

But I was thinking, we lost a number of forwards who would at least play on pk, (Malone, Army, Ruutu, Hossa, Hall) and we only picked up a few this year. Two of those guys, Zigomanis and Talbot have spent a bit of time hurt. I haven't really noticed any of the call ups being sent out there when we're short handed either.

I was sort of thinking that maybe the lack of fowards who are "responsible defensively" is among things that are hurting the team right now.

Anyone else notice this?

I think a lot of this has been due to Gill's injury and the lack of winning faceoffs in the defensive zone.

I think MT also wanted to start putting Crosby and Malkin in that role to maximize their ice time. It hurt in games where there were a lot of penalties for those guys to not see the ice for 4+ minutes in a row.
