Chris Pronger.

I don't care if he isn't the best pick. Atleast you know, that when your team gets into the playoffs that he WILL SUCKER PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE FOR NO REASON AT ALL.

Thats what I want.

Well heck, if we wanted that we could just bring back Billy Tibbetts. He would certainly be cheaper.

Malkin, he makes everyone around him better. Plus he can both score and pass. He's the full package. Crosby is mainly a passer and Ovy a shooter.

I think a goalie is just as, if not more important than a star forward though. Brodeur, though still incredible, is getting up there in age. Luongo is probably the best franchise goaltender to have, but I'd take Fleury. I think he has the brightest future and is still incredibly young.

Why would Richards be in the picture? Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane: all younger and already better.

Holy crap, I didn't think picking Richards would bother so many people. If your asking me for a franchise guy who I can build a team a round, I want a leader not a 150 point premadonna. Just my opinion. :D

^^ Well then your franchise wouldn't do as well as others. You couldn't overrate a guy more. It doesn't bother people cause it's Richards, it 'bothers' them because it's completely illogical. You can't build a team around someone without great talent. This is a sad attempt to stir things up.

I never thought Mike Richards was ever that good. Sure he's an alright defensive forward, but I need to see him do it for more than a year before I declare him a franchise type player.

That being said, I hate Richards more than any player on the planet (including Hartnell).

If I was a GM, the owner of the team would make the choice for me - Crosby.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic.

Richards is a good player, but he couldn't hold Crosby, Malkin, Oveckin, or Kane's jockstrap.

I think Richards is good, and I like him a lot too, but picking him to be your franchise player would just be idiotic given the number of players that are already better than him at a younger age.
