Crosby/Orpik? Tension?

Postby Maagwa on Sun Dec 28, 2008 12:25 am

There was talk about Crosby flipping on Orpik because he took a shot that Sidney didn't think he should have took. Of course this is pure speculation off the attempt of reading lips in HD, but I did notice Crosby and Orpik engaged in Convo in the game... and it did not look friendly to me.

Not every player on every team gets along with each other. If it's some minor thing I'm sure they'll resolve it sooner or later.

Orpik will never stay as long as Crosby is on the team. Trade Crosby!

I heard that Orpik ate the last pudding that was packed on the team bus ride to Buffalo. Nobody gets between Sid and the last pudding. He'll have hell to pay.

Did anyone else see the look that Sid gave orpik tonight when Sid was sitting on the bench? It may of been mentioned in the gameday thread, but it was a pretty nasty look.

I don't think it's a big deal at all, I just found it funny considering all the talk of them not liking each other.

Its good that we are using our jump to conclusion mats on the forum now.

I know really. It's pretty difficult to start any new thread on this board without some people immediately posting some unfunny sarcastic crap.

But yeah, I didn't see the incident. It's probably nothing to worry about but at the same time, it does concern me somewhat. Brooks Orpik is one of the veteran leaders on this team, MT's retarded "rotating A system" notwithstanding. So I think it's important for him and Sidney to have a unified front. It's these kind of things that could end up creating a split in the locker room. I highly doubt that would be the case here, but we shouldn't brush it off like it can't happen, because these things do happen sometimes.

"All the talk"? I haven't heard anyone say that Crosby & Orpik don't get along. All this speculation because Crosby didn't think Orpik should've shot the puck once?

Better than everyone telling everyone else that "everything you do is ok" communication, accountability - foundations of a strong team...this is a non-issue.

Even if they were talking sternly to eachther, who cares? It doesn't mean they dislike eachother. Theyre talkin hockey. Stuff like this happens between players EVERY game, and it's a good thing. Sid is telling Orpik what the better play was, and if Orpik disagrees then fine. They were talkin hockey

Nobody likes everybody all the time. Sometimes nobody likes anybody ever, like Jack Lambert. When a fractured room leads to under performance on the ice then you've got flawed character issues, or so it would seem to me. True pro's go about their business and don't take it on the ice.
Does happen though. They obviously still have major problems in Ottawa.

I also heard that Orpik didn't get along with Therrien and wasn't going to re-sign in Pittsburgh.....oh, wait.

I don't think any fan has any idea what's really going on based on various speculations from what "sources" say or what they see during the game. Orpik and Crosby are both grownups, they've played together long enough during bad games and stretches for this team. They looked like they were in an intense game time conversation, but not yelling at each other or anything like that. Maybe they were just talking about a play and hashing out what the best mode of operation would be. We just don't know.

The comical thing is that some will actually take a post about reading lips on TV, and where the OP clearly stated "pure speculation" - and they will turn it into fact when criticizing Orpik or Sid.

It happened in this thread and it happened in the game thread.

the team is struggling real bad right now. of course people are pissed off at eachother. their emotions are getting the best of them right now and they are probably snapping out... im sure people are pissed that Sid hasnt really done much the last 5 games. yeah he scored last nite, but that was the first thing he has done. whenever we get back on track, things will be peachy-keen and you will be writing about how Crosby and Orpik have man-crushes on eachother because they are both smiling and getting along
