Don't look now

Postby The Current One on Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:54 am

but guess who's quickly catching up to Geno in the scoring race? Two more goals last night, and showing why he's the MVP and best player in the league by a wide margin. His two goals last night were as many as Sid has in what, 12 games?

What's sad is that, we keep clamoring for a winger for Sid to play with to score goals. Why? Because he couldn't hit the side of a barn if he were standing next to it. On the other hand, it doesn't matter who Ovechkin is playing with because he can score a goal at anytime and anywhere on the ice. That's what separates him from Crosby - he can dominate a game all by himself, while Sid cannot. Geno is actually closer to Ovechkin in that respect, but still not at that level. Ovechkin just has a passion and determination about his game that Sid does not, and he continues to put his team on his back night in and night out. That why he's the reigning MVP, and looks like he's going to repeat this year in a landslide.

Sid and Geno would probably have 10-15 more points if they played in the most crap division in the league.

OV is arguably the best player in the game so is Crosby and Malkin. They should all be 1,2,3 in the scoring race this year and for many years to come...

Alex Ovechkin can do many things, but he alone couldn't win a series for washington.

1/14 should be fun. I think Sidney and Evgeni will show.

Only a homer would think that Sid, Malkin or AO is better than any of the others "by a wide margin".

if he is so dominant then why is he still 10 points behind Malkin?

The Pens need to win consistently and that is all they should be worried about. When that happens the points will come for Geno. 10 point lead when they are 5-7-1 recently it still impressive.

Crosby was on Pace for 125+ points until he got hurt. Ovechkin won't get better and neither will Sidney, Malkin has so much more potential than both of them.

Don't look now...

... we play the Bruins back to back!!!

Only a matter of time before Ovie leads the league in goals. I get goosebumps every time I think about the 2010 Olympic rosters. Canada vs Russia will be epic!

He's catching up! Now AO is tied with Sid and only 10 points behind Malkin. Watch out Geno! He's coming for you in the only thing that matters!

Alex Oveckhin is probably the best player in the world right now, right now.. A month ago,was Malkin the best.. but AO picked up form and he will now chase Geno for scoring title to the end,it will be close for sure.. Geno has got a nice lead, but if Pens wont start play better soon,AO will be no.1 in two-three weeks time..

Hasn't Malkin been widening the gap? I could have sworn a couple weeks ago, he was only up 7. Point being that Malkin is racking up points while the Pens are slumping. If they catch fire coming up soon, you'd have to believe Malkin's totals go up even more. Just b/c Malkin has one scoreless game doesn't mean he's slowed down any, if at all.

the "best" player doesn't change from month to month. the guy "playing the best" does.

it's like saying the guy on montreal was the best player in the word the other night because he scored the most goals.

maybe we can have a pay per view steel cage death match. Sid vrs Orpik, followed by Malkin vrs AO.

I like Ovy (alot), but he has hardly been the best player in the NHL this season.

somehow sid is slumping, possibly picking his game back up completely any game now, and is tied with AO, and hes being thrown to the wind?
