Alex Goligoski playing forward...

Postby Why So Serious? on Tue Dec 30, 2008 12:59 pm

on the 4th line with Jeffrey and Wallace, according to the Pens website.

http://penguins.nhl.com/team/app/?servi ... eid=400592

Unfortunately, I don't think this bodes well for GoGo to stay up with the big team once Letang returns. I really hope that's not the case however.

EDIT: http://penguins.nhl.com/team/app/?servi ... eid=400854

^ That website says Gogo will get some time playing forward and defense.

The way that some of the Pen's forwards have been playing we may need to put all of our defenseman at forward.

i guess the idea is that he'll be available for the power play and gill will be when we're short handed, but why not sit Eaton or (perferably) Boucher?

Biz also sent down today, not that he plays anyway. Look for Lucic to be running guys all night, pens have nobody to stand up. Tonight could be a real ugly game for the pens.

Yeah, move Goligoski to forward just so we can keep Boucher in the lineup. That makes sense    .

I'm telling you, Boucher is this year's Michel Ouellet. he's not coming out unless he's injured, no matter how bad he plays. Therrien just seems to have this odd man-love for useless French Canadian players.

Unless they are showcasing Boucher...

He took that hard shot off his boot/leg a few games ago, so who knows.

He took a slap shot by a Devils dman last Friday night. I'm guessing he still has some lingering effects from that. I agree about team toughness...boy, it could get real rough tonight. Lucic, Thornton, Hnidy, Chara, etc...these are big boys and the best we can do match that toughness is Hal Gill (whose coming back for the first time in 11 games) and Matt Cooke. It could be a long night boys and girls, but I hope not.

I was reading that M Lucic was moved to the 3rd line because of his recent play. PJ Axelson, another who lights up the pens only, will be with Kessel and Savard. Per Boston resources.

Sidney needs to help stop this revolving door on his line by shooting the puck and scoring goals as we have seen him do earlier in his career.

Go pens~ kill the bruins.

That would be awesome.

But really, why hasn't Boucher earned a scratch? He's been downright awful since he's been here.

Well, then, we're not only losing 5-2, we're also getting the crap kicked out of us. Fun.

That is true.

Boston's lines should shape up like:

Axelsson-Savard-Kessel
Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
Lucic-Yelle-Kobasew
Thornton-Sobotka-St. Pierre

Boucher plays the right side, which is likely why he's still in the lineup. Having 7 defensemen isn't the worst idea at this point, even though I don't like the strategy for the most part.

If you look at Boston's scoring list at nhl.com... man, are they put together well. Good balance all around. Scoring from center and both sides. Even their D are scoring. I am so impressed.

Man,sometimes i really dont get MT.. Why is he pushing d-mans to play forwards? like we havent got enough depth in AHL for 3-4th line..
And Boucher also sucks lately, soo i dont know why he isnt scratched. looks like he really is new MT's Michel Ouellet.
maybe Gogo even scores, who knows, but d.mans playing forward is just plain stupid

The D playing forward thing has been a pretty effective wake-up call in the past (see Orpik, Brooks), so perhaps MT's just trying it again, though Gogo's not been bad lately.

Godard needs to be in the lineup vs. Boston, Satan should be a healthy scratch.

I don't know if he'll replace Satan, but I recall Letang getting a few shifts on Crosby's wing before he got hurt, so I don't think seeing Goligoski there is out of the question.
