I had ramen for lunch today and I am 31, there's really no excuse for that.

"Malkin is a center. But he plays on Crosby's wing. That doesn't make any sense! Why would a center, who plays in the middle of the ice want to play on Crosby's wing, at the side? That does not make any sense!

What does this have to do with you're powerplay, Mr. Naslund? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen of the New York Rangers, this has nothing to do with the power play your are currently running."

Whitney to Dal for Loui Eriksson and a 3rd. They need a puck moving dman with Zubov always injured and his UFA status coming up. Sheds salary on Pittsburgh's side plus a top 6 young winger.

Dupuis + TB 3rd to Phi for Knuble. Not sure if they would go for it being in the division. Might have to do some kind of 3 team deal to make it happen.

Prospect or pick to TB for Steve Downie. Why? B/c it would piss off Flyer fans. Downie hasn't tried to kill anyone this year. I hate Downie, but it would be funny.

Work on extensions for Sykora and Gonchar. Sykora said he wants to stay per Thomas' translated interview. Try to get Gonchar to extend 2 more years at $4M-ish but up to $5M. Sykora approx $3M.

Is the Avs are in the playoff hunt, Garon to Colorado for a pick.

I don't know what I'd do with Toronto yet, but some sort of deal there if Burke does indeed like Bissonette.

Eriksson - Crosby - Cooke
Knuble - Malkin - Sykora
Fedotenko - Staal - TK
Godard - WBS dude - Downie/Bissonette/Jeffrey etc etc etc

Chew on that one :D

I had to abandon this b/c I was running late for work.

I forgot Satan and Talbot. I don't think Satan is move-able. Maybe a late pick or conditional late pick. But in my line up, he could just as easily be scratched. The Pens are moving more salary than bringing in, so he isn't hurting the situation.

Talbot can play 4th line C, since I don't think he will fetch much. It would provide an option to bring up into the 3rd line if someone gets hurt.

As for the D, Whitney is gone. So going into next year:

Gonchar - Orpik
Letang - Scuderi (I would sign Scuds)
Goligoski - Eaton

If Boucher would take a 1M ish 1 year contract, I'd take him back as the extra as injuries are imminent.

I would try to move Garon for a pick at the deadline to a needing team. In my stint as GM, the training wheels are totally off Fleury. We would ride him in the playoffs. Curry could easily be the back up.

Knuble and Fedotenko are the only guys needing replaced (trying to re-sign Knuble) as forwards in the off season. I figure Jeffrey works in as a full timer on the 3rd or 4th line. Talbot can move up if needed. Staal has an opportunity to play into the top 6 as a C or W. If he can't there would be a little room for a UFA forward thanks to removing some of the contracts I brilliantly moved.

Eriksson - Crosby - Cooke
Knuble - Malkin - Sykora
Fedotenko - Staal - Kennedy
Godard - Talbot - Downie/WBS/Bissonette
x - Satan

Orpik - Gonchar
Letang - Scuds
Goligoski - Eaton
x - Boucher, Gill (gone)

Fleury
Curry

If Philly won't trade Knuble, look to Carolina for Justin Williams. Most of the team is in tact.

1.6 - 8.7 - 1.175
? - 8.7 - 3.0
? - 4.0 - .8 (guess for tk)
.75 - 1.05 - .437

5.0 - 3.75
.835 - 2.0 (guess for scuds)
1.5 (guess for gogo extension) - 2.0

5.0
.75

That puts me at just over 51M. So if Gogo costs more or Scuderi does, still some room. One top 6 forward and one 3rd line forward needed. If you slide Jeffrey in there, he's only .525M I think. So you have a couple million for a UFA top 6, whoever that may be.

EDIT: add 1.5 for Boucher if re signed. Oops... almost forgot! But still got some room.
There's also room to re-sign Eriksson after the 09-10 season.

Whitney, Satan, Fedotenko and pick(s) to the Blues for Keith Tkachuk, Brad Boyes and Alexander Steen.

Tkachuk - Crosby - Malkin
Boyes - Staal - Sykora
Kennedy - Steen - Cooke
Dupuis - Talbot - Godard

Gonchar - Orpik
Letang - Gill
Scuderi - Gogo/Eaton/Boucher
