*yawn*

Whatever. I guess it's too much to ask that people drop the debate and let history be the judge of Crosby. Hopefully Sid will find a way to tune all of the garbage out (the hype, the backlash, everything) and just worry about his team and his hockey.

The main reason Semin has a high point per game average is he refuses to play with the slightest degree of pain. He only plays when he is 100%. If he played through the typical pain other NHL players endure, he would not be as productive on a per game basis.

This is the same guy that fled back to mother Russia rather than endure a stint in the AHL when the Caps felt he wasn't demonstrating the necessary level of NHL play. Between his fragility, cowardice, softness, petulance, etc it is a matter of when, not if he will let the Caps down.

The one complaint I hear alot regarding Semin, from Caps fans, is that he plays (well) only when he feels like it.

It probably has something to do with his menstrual cycle.

Other than his fighting skills, there is no denying Semin is a talented player. I'd take him on my team anyday.

He's one of the better snipers in the league and has a wicked shot.

After reading comments like this, one can ALMOST understand why Don Cherry hates on Europeans so much. It takes a real man to speak out against one of the, if not THE, hardest working players in the NHL. I know people hate on Crosby a lot for being so bland in interviews, but I'm always going to be a bigger fan of a guy who lets his work ethic and effort on the ice do his talking than a guy who's done nothing calling out a player who is light years ahead of him.

Draftnik-Never really thought that about Semin, but the guy does seem to be out of the line-up an awful lot. Further, when he does play, he's generally floating between the blue lines and rarely, if ever, playing defense. Real easy to rack up offensive numbers when you play like that.

Why do people get so upset and offended when people don't like Sidney Crosby?

Who cares, really?

its just ridiculous to see players like this chip away at the off-ice personality that the NHL tries to maintain in comparison to the NFL and NBA.....

Wow, is he really trying this hard to kiss up and prove that he's actually Russian?

Too bad...no matter what he does, he'll never be able to play for the Russian team (his brother and him both having represented Belarus internationally).

i really hope the nhl turns into something like modern rap.. a cluster of forgettable morons calling everyone else out trying to prove they're the best, while the true geniuses stay more or less quiet and make history with their music.

its an opinion, who cares. but its really not that far fetched. until crosby has a decent winger with him other teams don't have to worry about him as much. quite simply his goal scoring ability is marginal, his shot isn't close to the top of players in the league. he isn't as big an offensive threat in games as many of those players just because his wingers suck. he's a setup man, those players are goal scorers. sid does a ton of little things, he's an amazing player... but its easy to see why he is overrated.

Don't be so sure.

There's a reason I've been absent a lot during recent GDT's.
