Its it funny Godard drops Orr and he is pretty much invisible most of the night.

It was really sweet. In an odd way, set a nice tone. Too bad he and Biz didn't see much of the ice the rest of the game, but the knee-buckler on Orr will not soon be forgotten.

Staal does get some fluky goals. But he also hits more posts than any Penguins player. It evens out.

I'm Fast Forwarding through the DVR, but did anyone else see the fan wearing a Kevin Hatcher jersey after Letang's first goal?

It may have been Kevin, I'm not sure. But if not, that's really hangin' on to a jersey.

A hidden stat from tonight:

Bill Thomas - 5/6 on faceoffs. He's 13/23 on the season (56.5%). He was second among forwards in PK ice time behind Staal. The PK was clutch tonight. He's averaged 2:02 PK minutes per game he's played in the NHL this season, which is 5th on the team among forwards, one of them being the injured Zigomanis. Maybe this is a guy that can fill that void without having to go out and give up something for Hall and be stuck with him for two more years. I guess we'll see. He had never taken a faceoff in the NHL before this season. While his overall FO number looks good, take out tonight's game and he was only at 47%. Still, something worth looking at. I think he's going to stick a while because of the coaching staff's trust in his PK ability.

I agree, I think Thomas will be up here for a while. He's essentialy replacing Dustin Jeffrey who was up here for a spot (It's either him, Jeffrey, or Taffe, and Taffe doesn't do PK duty). But he's got more experience, so like you said, the coaches trust him more on the PK. Hopefully he'll be able to start chipping in here or there on offense as well.

Speaking of throwback jerseys, there was a Frankie Leroux in C26, and a JEFF FREAKIN' CHYCHRUN in A27. If any LGPers are the owners of these jerseys, mad props to you.

I agree with both of you. Bill Thomas has stepped it up on the PK. I hope he continues.

also, did anyone else notice that on Letang's 2nd goal they originally announced Letang from Malkin. Then they changed it to Letang from Dupuis & Crosby. I think they got it wrong. I originally thought Malkin touched it as Letang was coming up the boards, but he didnt, so they got that right, but I dont see the assist from Dupuis & Crosby. I think it should have been Unassisted.

I have a Frankie Leroux jersey. I actually had some Caps fan call me an idiot while at a game at the old Cap Centre because I spelled Lemieux wrong and put the wrong number on.

What a swell result to see as I got up this morning.

Is it just me or does Staal and Sykora seem to be producing just fine with Sid and Geno together on the first line?

Minard is also helping and I want to see what Tank could do on the LW, culd be a very good 2nd line.

Good & great things happen when you shoot the puck. And, when the goalie can hold on until you all decide to shoot the puck. :P Great start for the push-up!

*add in, I hate scripted fights, but last night I understand Renney made his line up first ? so Therrien answered. Eric Godard hasn't backed off from anyone, he went right at it. God bless him, hard way to make it in hockey.

Will it ever occur to Steigy that anyone under the age of, say, 40 or so probably has no clue as to who "Peter Gunn" is, and doesn't get the reference? Not to mention that it is a dumb nickname.

Great win last night. Great way to start off this "playoff" run.

If they can take two this weekend (NJ Friday) and Toronto Saturday, it can be a great great start.

Take care of their own business and the rest will work out.

It was finally nice seeing them healthy too. (for the most part)

Great game Pens. It's amazing what can happen when they go to the net - with or without the puck....
