No thanks. If there is a bigger deal involving Kovalchuk...then they can add Armstrong. We'll give them Satan. Army on the first line again would be disastrous.

I don't know if they meant it this way, but it sounds like the suggestion is Whitney for Armstrong? I'm sure there's more to it, but to me, it sounds like Whitney for garbage.

If Shero goes after Army, then I'd say that means Crosby is making personnel decisions.

Agreed. I pray every night that Whitney will be traded this season. There still hope I guess, albeit small?

That's how I read it too which really didn't make any sense to me. Now if they were both part of a much bigger deal then I might be for it depending on what else the Pens are getting back.

If they're just interested in getting Colby back I really don't get trading for him, just sign him after the year. Colby's a nice player but it's not like the Pens trading for him is going to take them into the playoffs and on a great playoff run.

I think you are forgetting how great Dupuis was playing before he got hurt. Him and Fedo were our most consistent wingers for a good stretch of games before they both got hurt.

We are not trading any of our young puck moving D or Staal straight up for Army.

If any of them go to ATL, Kozlov is coming back.

Talbot goes nowhere.

He doesn't have much trade value, but he's a "glue guy". Not that Army isn't, but you need to have some measure of continuity.

While he has been bad/injured this season, the Pens need more guys like Talbot who give 100% all the time, not less.

I hear you. I just through Talbot out there because if the pens keep Staal at C and eventually move Malkin back to C. Talbot making $1MM next year at 4th line center probably doesn't make the most sense...He could still play wing...But it's a thought...

"Glue guy"... I like that. Very much like Colby was and would be again.

Talk about a guy with a renewed sense of team. Not that he hates Atl...or that I would know anyway, but he did not like leaving Pittsburgh. If he came back and things went back for him the way they were for him, I could see him wanting to resign long term for very cheap.

So you would want Armstrong back on the top line? Thanks, but no thanks.

If Army would come back, which I really don't see a reason he needs to.... he should be a bottom 6 guy, no way is he the answer to our lack of scoring in the top 6. A Dupuis/Army switch on line 1 is lateral at best.

actually, i want kennedy or cooke on the top line. and army/dupuis on line 3. the MT love for dupuis gets more and more baffling.

if we were to get COlby back for a pick to add to the bottom six and possibly fill in the top six during injuries and to use on the PK then im all for it. But if this is the case, im sure its more of a package deal, just like Dupuis was with the hossa trade.
But i dont know what you would have to give up for Kovy or if they would be going for anyone else? Kozlov?
Maybe RS is tired of all the stupid Hossa didnt sign here blah blah blah garbage and wants to have Colby EC and Espo back so that he can say, what Hossa trade, there was never a hossa trade?

Colby - yes, EC - nah, Espo - okay, Hossa - yeah (never, but be realistic...you'd be insane to turn him away for the right price)

That is actually a decent upgrade for us. Not so much in the skill category, as Satan has more skill - but I'd take Colby over Satan easily, especially when the playoffs start.

I think there's better options than Colby though, and I don't think there's much to this rumor...

As long as Satan is on the Pens, there is room for Colby Armstrong. Colby is better than some players on this team. I think they need grit and some willingness to play physical, which you do not get with Satan.

I'd be happy to have him back. I can then start showing my pic of me with him again

I'm not being sarcastic. Whitney is one of my least favorite Penguins. He drives me up a wall. I'm sorry to disappoint some people, but I can't stand him. Save his solid play in the cup finals, he has been more or less an eyesore for the last two or three years. He's positionally unsound, he's soft in front of the net and in the boards, his defensive coverage is questionable, and his grossly overrated on the power-play. Outlet passes are great and mostly accurate, but that doesn't make a fine defenseman. I'd move him. We've got Gogo and Letang growing at a fine pace, and plenty of help on the way in the future.

I'm not saying trade him for Colby Armstrong straight up. Frankly, I'm tired of Colby Armstrong. I don't care about him being BFF with Sid or being hilariously funny in the locker-room. He's a dime a dozen player.

What I would like to see is the Pens use Whitney to get a top-flight winger. It's a more pressing need at this point.

Sorry, Digitalgypsy. Haha.
