No way I'd trade either of Whitney/Staal for Hejduk. Maybe Gogo and picks or something like that if they'd take it, otherwise no way. Hejduk does have a killer death stare though. Not like Gary Roberts, but he's close. I don't think he smiled once during the allstar break.

I think Hejduk's just a shinier version of Sykora and Satan. No thanks.

Hejduk is a sniper, who when paired with Crosby would be a potential 40 goal guy. He is so much better than Sykora, who someone compared him to, it isn't even funny. He's no Hossa, but if he's healthy he is not too far behind. He has sick hands and shot - and skates about 1000% better than Sykora ever has. He's also grittier.

That said, he is not going to fetch too much in terms of young assets at the NHL level. If the Avs want to move him, with only one year left on his deal and the public speculation that he will move back home after that deal is done, I can't see anyone giving up anyone with the upside of Staal or Whitney.

The proposals on that board make HF look reasonable. Hejduk would be nice, but something tells me he's either going to retire or return to the Czech Rep. within a year or two. He was pretty nasty in the shootout challenge @ the ASG. No to giving up Whitney or Staal for him unless there's more coming to us in return

I have an idea. How about Boucher for Hejduk? A washed-up defensemen for a washed up forward. That's about all I would be willing to give for an oft-injured veteran like that. The thought that the Pens would give Staal or Whitney is laughable.

My opinion on this...the Avs should definately not even look at this...Hejduk is an all-star two-way forward. He's pure goal scorer and invaluable on the PK and in the shootout...the Pens have to offer up something big in return...Ray Whitney seems like a slap in the face to this organization if they pull the trigger on that...

Haha.... if only we could convince Carolina to trade Ray Whitney for Hejduk and then let Hejduk play for us!

I'll pass. I like Hejduk, but for Whitney or Staal. Hejduk is 32 years old. If we could get him cheaper, fine. But im not willing to part with either Whitney or Staal for him.

The comparison of Sykora to Hejduk is not that far off.

His game has not been the same in the past year and a half.

He had 35 goals 2 years ago.

He had 29 goals last year.

He's on pace for 28 goals this year.

Oh, and the year before he scored 35 last, he scored 24 in 77 games.

The Hejduk you are thinking of is in 2000 and 2002.

Its funny that when Shanahan was brought up in the summer, nobody wanted anything to do with him, yet I just read a post in this thread that would welcome Keith Tkachuk.

Crazy.

I'd take Shanahan over Tkachuk any day of the week.

Yes, that is definitely significant. Every single person voiced their opinion and wanted nothing to do with Shanahan, so one person having interest in Tkachuk is just absurd.
