I would rather face a nice, soft, slow guy than have him on my team.

Meh, whatever. We all knew what this was. A chance for him to put up numbers with two of the best Centers in the world, and then cash in on some stupid GM that was dumb enough to think he did it all by himself. I don't care to much for Satan, but I'm not going to root against him. He's on the team...for now.

That's good news. If he still has gas left in the tank, I'm all for dropping in a lit match.

satan actually has looked pretty decent in his 3rd line duty. he could prove to be surprisingly useful down the stretch. the talbot/kennedy/satan line was sharp the other night.

I'm waiting for the good portion of the "I'm usually a slow starter" to kick in. Should be about now. Kinda like Rocky switching back to southpaw on Apollo Creed, after Mick yell-spits "NOW!!!!!" Maybe MT will do a similar move to Satan.

I think Satan has been playing much better lately. He gets way too much hatred on this board for a 3.5 mil/1 year player.

The problem with Satan is that he was miscast as a top-line winger earlier in the season, which he no longer is. As a result of his struggles, MT in all his epic brilliance pulled him off the one area where he IS useful, the powerplay. Satan will finish with over 20 goals, but he adds no other dimensions really.

He is a servicable second or third liner, and needs a big, hulk of a center to get him the puck (Staal is a big hulk of a center but struggles to distribute the puck) and therefore he is miscast on this team.

However, if the Pens trade for Tkachuk, consider this:

Tkachuk - Crosby - Satan
Fedotenko - Malkin - Sykora
Cooke - Staal - Kennedy
Dupuis - Talbot - Godard

That just might work.

For his production this season you can' really hate on Satan. Sure I just said the other day I'd rather have Army on the 3rd line right now instead of Satan, but that's more to do with salary than talent. Satan's on pace for 20+ goals and 50+ points, which could be higher but he's only recently begun to come out of his slump. He's got 4 points in the past 6 games after only registering 1 point in the 10 previous games.

One or 2 games with multiple points and he's right back on pace for a 25G-60P season, which is what us, and I'm sure Shero, should have expected.

He still plays the 2nd PP unit.

The reason he was knocked off of the first was because other than the couple of tap in goals he had earlier in the season, he has done squat. Sykora has been 100% more effective on the PP than Satan.

Miro Satan: 1 goal in his last 18 games. 5 goals in his last 37.

I - for one - am all for someone driving him to the airport on the full tank of gas.
I will send RS a thank you letter if he can con someone in to taking Satan in a trade. I don't think that letter will ever be written, unfortunately.
