Penguins blogs go on the record...

Postby Jesse on Fri May 29, 2009 11:25 am

Not to toot the horn for all the freelance writers and bloggers in Pittsburgh, but I think we have a damn fine community of people that spend a good amount of time trying to engage fans in good discussion and provide a good look from a fans perspective.

If you're in Pittsburgh, there's no shortage of hockey discussion to be had.

That said, I tried to corrall all the people that make this community great. Some didn't respond on the short notice, but we have a good amount in this post.

Enjoy. Feel free to add your own "key" to victory.

Keeping the front of the net clear is the big one for me. Just watching Detroit crash the net against the Hawks, it was something that stood out to me. Oh, and we have to score more goals then them.

good read. ferrante's note on abusing the wings' PK is vital. they played better in the CHI series, but the PP has to perform better and that happens, and maf outplays osgood.

Physicality. Detroit is older and the Pens need to come out like they did versus Philly. Dump the puck in and blast the defender if he gets there first. Wear them down and take their game to them.

If Kronwall is head hunting, that is a good thing for a guy like Malkin. He will exploit the open areas left by a guy looking for a big hit. And we've all seen Geno lined up in a guy's sights only to get out of the way last minute. Ask Ovie what it's like to catch Geno seemingly not looking. Backstrom could tell you how that turned out too ;)

Malkin is the key. I took a poll that asked "who will have the most influence on the series?" For better or worse, it will be Geno.
