This could be one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this site...honestly. Congrats.

As for available d-men...I'd be curious to see what Mara would want. He's a solid player and a good team guy.

For as much as I grew to like Scuderi (he improved more the past two seasons than anyone), he is still worth no more than 2 million dollars a year. With Letang and Gonchar both due for new contracts, this decision was more about signing them than losing Scuderi. I wish him well, but Scuderi still rarely takes the body (minus a few nice hip checks), he cannot shoot or pass and spends too much time laying on the ice.

I know he saved the Penguins in Game 6, when the puck hit him a few times in the crease, but great defenseman wouldn't have been in the crease to begin with. Letting Scuderi walk was the right decision.

I agree 100% and have thought so since the beginning

Sorry, I can't read well. It says they topped Dallas's offer of 4 for 14

Oh ok that's better then, I was thinking if he just pulled down over $20M and it took him that long to make a decision he must have a head injury.

Still a nice deal for him though

So it's probably around 3.5 mil a year. Smart move imo. He gets to go to an up and coming team in a great city. They may have drafted in the top 5, but they are definitely on the rise. It's not like he's going to the Thrashers/Islanders.

i know he is coming off a serious injury, but does anyone think making an offer to Robert Lang would be a good idea?

I wish Rob Scuderi nothing but the best, but the Pens made the right decision not to sign him for any more than 2 million. In a capped NHL, you can't spend that kind of money on Rob Scuderi's. That's exactly how teams get into salary cap trouble. He played great in the playoffs, but he is a replaceable part. You find someone similar at a lesser rate and move on.

I guess on the bright side I won't be dropping $150 on the Scuds jersey I was gonna get.

Congrats. I still laugh at all of the scudicar rants that went on in here back in the day. He has really improved and was huge this year and last for the pens. He will be missed.

Good for Rob. You have to take that money and set up yourself for life. Funny to think back on the Scudihar days when countless threads were devoted to getting rid of Scuderi and Melichar at the same time.

Dude you are nuts!!! Kovi is not the winger we need. He is a playmaker, that is what Geno and Sid are.

Kovi is a guy that needs the puck to be effective and that will take away from Crosby and Geno's play.

We need another sniper.

Also, being connected to the Montreal Mob doesn't help either.
I was only being half series hence the( ) but make no mistake he is a sniper and on a wing with Geno he'd have little trouble contributing goals and most likely would have the most goals of any wing on the team. He can make plays but he's a goal scorer no doubt.

It just would NOT have made sense for the Pens to put out that kind of money but I am really happy that he gets a lot of it somewhere else, and LA could become a very good team.

Its funny, I am glad that he was able to get alot of attention on free agency, but I am even more glad the Pens didn't need to pay a defender that doesn't score. I think it will be good for everyone involved, no matter what the terms.

Scuderi's not a #5 defenseman and won't be one there. LA has money to spend and haven't had success attracting good UFAs so they can afford to overpay. I think that's a good signing for him. The Pens smartly can't match that. I would have liked to have Scuderi back, but not at the expense of a Gonchar or Letang after the season.

I'll miss Scuderi, and don't think he's quite as replaceable as people here seem to think, but there's no way the Pens could compete with that money. Oh well. Let's hope he doesn't suffer from the same remorse that Malone did.

The PK just took a big hit. Wonder who's on Shero's radar...

That is a ridiculous amount of money to pay that type of player. He would have been stupid not to take it.

#6?

Guy can't move the puck. He is a good defensive defenseman and great on the pk, but I would not consider him a top 4 dman.

The only move I'm inyerested in right now is extending Letang and Gonchar.
