Pens Sign D Wade Skolney

Postby Metalmike on Fri Jul 21, 2006 7:48 pm

According to the ticker on theScore.ca here in Toronto, the Pens have signed Dman Wade Skolney.

I can't find a link to that, plus not sure if it's been posted here already but I just saw it on TV.

If it's been posted already, sorry for the double post.

Bombulie has this on his blog. Supposed to just be an AHL signing.

It's on the WBS beat writer's (Jonathan Bombulie) blog as well.

From what a Flyers fan was saying on hfboards, Skolney has had some concussion problems and as a result has to wear a specifal visor that is darkened.

He's a right handed shot, physical, 25 years old. Definitely a pickup to help WBS.

Is Shero shooting for a $25 million team salary for this year?

It seems to me that with the retirements of Lemieux and Palffy there would be a little room to sign a good winger like Sykora or some decent defenseman, not some guy who no one's ever heard of who's gonna be playing in the AHL.

Guys please forget about Sykora. There's a reason he's still available. We could very well be overstocked with forwards as is. No way Shero shells out 3 million for a soft floater.

We need a solid defenceman to top things off and I think we're good until camp.

I thought we went over the whole salary floor thing in great detail...we we're essentially at it, right? And then we added Pivko (maybe), Moore, and Ekman...I think we're good in terms of the salary floor...

If Malkin and Crosby hit all their bonuses then we are there. Considering that Sawyer has said $31 million for budget I think we'll see actual salary of $28 million this year since some buyouts and cap averages as well as bonuses would put us up to $31 million.
