Me and a bunch of guys went to the Columbus game last week. We had such a great time we have decided to make it a yearly thing. Now we could keep going to Columbus, but some us us thought that we should try some other cities just so we see something a little different each year. Right now our list of possibles include: Philly, Buffalo, DC, Columbus, Detroit, Toronto, New Jersey. Has anyone been to games here how easy are tickets to get. I know that DC had a zip code black out for PA is that still in effect? I would love to go to toronto see a game and then the Hockey Hall of Fame, but I hear Leafs tickets are very hard to get. We have some time since this will be for next season. I'm just looking to hear from people that have been to these cities and what they think of them.

I've been to NJ and Philly..
It was real easy to get tickets in NJ, I went the day after xmas last year and bought the tickets on ticketmaster at about noon on game day, they were the equivalent of B level seating at the igloo, its a new building too so thats nice, but its in a crappy part of NJ.
Philly is a little tougher to get tickets and you'll get yelled at and stuff, but its an experience, I went there for a playoff game last year so it might have been worse but I think it'll be bad anytime you go lol

since moving to Baltimore last year I went to both pens V caps games in DC. The tickets are not to hard to come across, but they are expensive IMO, but good pens tickets are also. This year my internet was down when tickets went on sale so I got them off of stub hub (not to bad of a price). The fans are not to bad, they dont like the pens, but just tell them about all the playoff beatings and the cups and they shut up pretty quick. A lot of them are bandwagon fans, they do a really good job of building hype and getting people into the building.

We went to a pens game in St Louis. Sat up in the nosebleeds with a bunch of blues season ticket holders. It was a blast. (that was back in 03-04 during the x-generation years).

All of those cities would be good, except for Philly. They will treat you like #$%* there and even if the Pens win it will not be as much fun as it could be. Personally, I would not spend my tourist dollars in Philly.

I went to Ottawa for Game 3 of the 06-07 playoffs. It was the only game we won in the series. Definitely worth the 10 hour drive.
I went to Philly for Game 4 of the 07-08 playoffs. I will never go back again. We got harrassed the entire time there, and my cousin got a full beer in the face.
Went to Game 7 in Detroit and that was awesome.
DC for 3 games and Buffalo for 2 (buffalo sucks)

No that wasn't us. There were 8 of us we were up in 201 row Q can't get any higher but we still had a pretty good view.

I went to Columbus last week and DC in March. Both were practically home games so we didn't fully get the away game experience. DC was definitely more expensive than Columbus, both ticket prices (which still weren't bad IMO) and hotel. Just buy from StubHub if you want to get around Teddy's inferiority complex, but expect to overpay.
We're planning a Toronto trip but the people I'm going with are starting to get wishy-washy about going this season because of passports and money and they're hinting about saving up and going next season, so we may do Montreal instead. I expect to pay through the nose for everything but I think it'll be worth it for the experience, since MTL is the place I most want to see a game.

Not on your list, but Chicago is a good trip. Fans are knowledgable, intense, and will give you a hard time, but ultimately not cross the line and it's all in good fun. (I've been there when the Wings were playing, and that's a different story.) Plus, you're in Chicago, which is a better place to spend a weekend than Columbus, Philly, or DC anyway.

I've gone to both Columus games in 2009 and loved them both as well. As someone states above they really aren't a true away game in regards to the fanbase...but it is still a really nice trip. I'm also heading to Atlanta in a few weeks, Buffalo on Dec. 19, and I'm debating on joining my family for a trip to Tampa Bay right before the near year. I've never been to a regular game in Buffalo, only the Winter Classic, so I am looking forward to that.

I have been to games @ the following Arenas:
Devils - Continental Airlines Arena
Devils - Prudential Center
Flyers - Wachovia Center
Sabres - Ralph Wilson Stadium
Maple Leafs - Air Canada Centre
Canadiens - Belle Centre
Lightning - St. Pete Times Forum
Panthers - Bank Atlantic Center
Helsinki - Hartwell Areena
Stockholm - Globen Areena
Blackhawks - United Center
Red Wings - Joe Luis Arena
Ducks - Honda Center
Kings - Staples Center
I am in San Jose and Returning home tomorrow. Most cities u can just get tix from ticketmaster. Obviously Toronto and Montreal are a lil more complex. I paid 100 a ticket for Montreal only to find out when I got to the Hostel a crossed the street they have season tix and sell them to guests for face value!
I usually first check the teams website to see if there are are available then the ticket exchange. If no Luck I try Craigs list or ebay, and finally Stubhub.
This trip I paid face for the Ducks and Kings games. 37.50 and 62.00 respectively. Wound up meeting 3 kings fans who got us into the suite above us and My buddy Met Marty Mcsorely and Luc Robitille! Sorry for misspelling.
The san Jose game I waited too long and ended up paing $80 each for Tix that cost 20 each on Stubhub!
Just a note: so far I habe found that Anaheim and LA definately love their teams. The fans are knowledgable and friendly. A Ducks fan told us the other day that we will definately get abused by Sharks Fans. "Their like the Flyers of the west". We Shall see!

I have seen Penguins games in:
Boston: Old and New Garden
New Jersey: Brendan Byrne
NYI: Nassau Coliseum
Hartford: Civic Center Coliseum
and a Blackhawks game at the UC vs Nashville.
I had a great time at all. I don't get the affinity for the Old Boston Garden other than its historical significance (more for the Celtics than Bruins. For all the banners the Bruins have, remarkably few are anything significant, ie Stanley Cups. They own the place and I guess feel like they have to have as much stuff up there as the Cs.).
Really, none of the places or crowds have been much to write home about IMO. Tickets at all have been fairly easy (except good luck finding them in Hartford these days LOL)

Been to:
Columbus- Last year.Best surrounding area for a game IMO. Everything is in walking distant. It's a real easy drive.
Florida- Went in the 07-08 year. It's weird going to a hockey game and seeing people wear sandals in.
Philly- Went to game 4 in 07-08. You will get harassed by the fans, but they are all talk as long as you keep your cool. Nothing happening to me or anyone I saw.
D.C.- Game 5 last year.Caps fans suck. They are worse than Flyer fans becasue they think they have actaully won something at some point. No one seems to have any idea of the history about the pens or the playoff history. Everyone I saw has on an AO jersey. Very small amount had older ones on.
Detroit- By far the worst experience I have had. Was at game 1 and 2 last year. The fans are disgusting, annoying, and the city is awful. Nothing about that trip was good at all.
The arenas are all the same besides the Joe. It makes me said thinking about when Mellon will be gone. The Joe really sucks.

been to Buffalo, Philly, NJ, New York Isles, NY Rags, Toronto, Detroit, Columbus
most hostile by far was MSG during the playoffs, way worse than philly but i was sitting up high with the diehards at msg all season ticket holders. was crazy.
i'd never get tickets in advance off ticketmaster unless its the playoffs. you can almost always get tickets off of craigslist or ebay for cheaper unless its an extremely big game. any weekday games you can get below face, except toronto.

I live in Ohio and was at the BJ-Pens game last year. It was a good time, Pens lost in a shoot-out. Lot's of Pens's fans there.....only problem was some broad who mouthed off to me exiting the arena. I just "reminded" her where she could put her fence post. Other than that, I found the Columbus fans to be kind and excited about hockey.

The
Boston Garden was demolished 12 years ago.
Is the
TD Banknorth (new) Garden in shambles?

TD Garden
(apparently they decided to drop Banknorth?) was in great shape when I was there almost 2 years ago to catch a Caps @ Bruins game. Hoping I can make it for the Pens @ Bruins in March now.

I've read that Leafs tickets are easy to get this year if you look on eBay. it's that passport thing you need to worry about.

Back in '06 my roommates and I went on a mini "hockey tour". We went to 4 games in 4 days.
NY (Flyers vs Rangers)
Washington Flyers vs Capitals)
Pittsburgh (Thrashers vs Penguins)
Detroit (Stars vs Wings)
It was awesome. I've been wanting to do it again ever since.
