Maybe that's part of the domininace of them over the years - we ended up with their Murph, Gonchar and Hatcher and they ended up with ours, Rick Berry & Frantisek Kucera.

Green's defense will come around. Gonchar wasn't always considered a responbile defensive defenseman early in his career either. If a few years, we'd love to have him. Right now, he'd undoubtedly help the powerplay, but his defense would be a tremendous liability.

To explain, after a long day me and a few co-workers went to Mad Mex in Scott Township after work. One of them asked me about the "Woop, woop" chant that the Capitals (and some Pens fans) used to do when Gonchar got the puck. I had to explain the Larry Murphy story, which lead to talking about Gonchar, which lead me to a 9 minute drunk rant on how I hate Mike Green and the Capitals. Then one of my co-workers said something about, "Well if it's happened twice before, we'll probably end up getting Mike Green in the future." And that's when margarita 3 told me that it would be a good idea to post this on LGP.

Early in his career? I wouldn't say he ever showed that he was a responsible defensive dman until probably 2008. It took him a long time to change his mindset on how to play in his own end.
