Apparently he decided he was playing too well lately and needs to rest up so he can regain his suckitude.

So Cross & Rita in for Gonchar & Ouellet... great, really gets me pumped up before I head out the door to go to the igloo.

I would think that Jackman will be on the first power play unit with Gonchar out. Someone else will also have to move the puck up ice on the PP with Gonchar out. Could be an interesting PP tonight for us.

Why no Gonchar?
Recchi will play fulltime on the PP lugging the puck up the ice.
No Ouellet will hurt, he's one of the few guys I have confidence in around the net.
I wish the answer was....Gonchar is a healthy scratch... THAt would be music to my ears...wake him up.

Ouellet hurt his knee, while Gonchar has been battling that groin injury.
Whitney-Scuderi
Orpik-Jackman
Cairns-Melichar
Wow, that defensive corps just screams Norris!!

sure.
ten minutes into the game and no defensive breakdowns yet!
Orpik went for a hit instead of playing the puck out of the zone and the Brooons were able keep control... other than that the defense has been fine.
Weird to see so many shifts without #55 blowing up defensively.... I really like this Gonchar not playing stuff.
I concur. They really look fast for a change, almost inspired. ALMOST. They kind of look like the Pens from the end of last season.

Gonchar is out. My day is complete now. I get to watch the Pens, then go right to work. But somehow not having to watch Gonchar makes that a little bit better.

Without Gonchar we are still losing, and we still suck defensively. At least he was able to generate some sort of offense.

He only generates offense on the power play. Give me anyone as much time on the point as he gets and they will generate offense. Gonchar is terrible. He takes a dumb penalty that negates power plays to frequently. He needed to be scratched alot sooner. The only difference is he needed to be a HEALTHY scratch.
