Orpik Says All That Needs to be Said

Postby Mad City Mike on Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:13 am

"Right now, it looks like we got guys just showing up."

You have to wonder how this can be on a team with so many young guys. Don't these guys realize that this might be their one and only chance to make it in this league? And if any veterans are among them, it's imperative that they be dealt or waived before the end of the season. A message has to be sent that the country club atmosphere is history.

Orpik's comments and his play

Postby Penspal on Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:20 am

Its been posted many times before, Orpik has a very clear feeling/understanding of how the team is going, and is able to articulate it quite well.

There are games when he plays exceptionally well. He's chosing his hits well, and consistently clearing the zone. I've even seen him do a straight up rush at times when I had to ask "Who's that guy skating so well?"

But I have to say, I'm glad he included himself in that commentary. There are days when I think he should be a long term fixture and Associate Captain, and then there are games when I wonder if maybe he got the worst of a few of his own checks. His decision making lapses at times, but overall, he's gotten better.

It is very frustrating to see Brooks play so well, and then no one else seems to feed off of it.

This is why I really think he should be considered for the "C" next season. Although it will probably go to either Sidney or Recchi (if he's still here). Towards the end of the last season I was saying he was the future captain of this team (of course that was before Sid came). I would be happy if either one gets it....just not Recchi.

until Penguins value accountability on-ice

Brooks Orpik will not wear the A.

I see penguins trying but if you don't have the skills;
you can knock yourself out and still you won't be
able to score goals. K Koltsov, speed without hands kills. :P
But I love KK on the PK and 3rd/4th line.

at new igloo Sid is Captain with Brooks as Alternate &
_____________mystery guest sign in as 2nd alternate.
