That's Russian he's writing, though I guess the Russian word for tomato, "pomidor" must come from the Italian pomodoro.

I can honestly say that things are different now. Geno has changed and it may have took a career altering injury to do it but it still was for the better. Now, i have no doubt that we will see the real Geno, and not just on-ice-performance. This town, this city, will be his for the rest of his career and the gap between him and Sid will be greatly diminished.

I can't also but think that Sid going down in a big way and concerns about his well being has made Geno realize the importance of his role and how much the team needs him. Knowing Crosby always works so hard and seeing what he's been through, I could see Malkin taking that to heart.
