I don't know, with all the injuries and all that nonsense. If we're arguing about why MAF didn't start a game in October before a long lay-off, I'd say things are pretty good lol.

The Leafs were three feet offsides when they first entered the zone on the Kessel goal. The play never should have happened.

Very questionable decision to start Johnson in goal IMO. On Planet Bylsma, it all makes sense somehow.

Pittsburg plays their back-up goalie and the best player in the league is out of the line-up. Nothing much to brag about really .......

Gotta love the Leafs' hive-mind on there though. Any comment that mentions anything to take away from the win (ie: offsides on 2 goals, no Crosby/Staal, Johnson starting...) got voted down into oblivion.

The most impressive thing about the Leafs win, was how listless the Penguins were.
It happens, but they buds need to keep that in mind.

The Pens played 13 games in 24 days. I don't really get the outrage over BJ getting a start. That's a really heavy early season workload with a lot of season left. It makes sense to give the back-up extra work early and it's not like BJ is a bad goalie. Typically, he's done very well.

Anyway, like pretty much every other loss this season, I still came away feeling good about this bunch. There's no shame in losing a one goal game, on the road, to a Toronto team that's playing good hockey, when you're without Crosby, Staal, Kennedy, and Michalek all to injury, plus yes, the starting goalie isn't playing. Losing Staal and Michalek in particular may have been the difference with Toronto scoring two PP goals.

Regardless, given the schedule and injuries, 8-3-2 is a fantastic start to this season. All five losses have been by one goal and only two of eight wins have been by less than two. Again, all without Crosby and with various other key players missing games.

Meh. I actually was able to stay up for this one, interesting game, but too bad it was just not the Pens night.

Malkin's best game of the year. Strong in all 3 zones.

Staal missed big time, especially on PK. Just goes to show the haters his true value, especially when Letestu takes his roster spot.

Sully with a spirited game. Still cant buy one.

Poor D zone coverage on Kessel goal. 2 forwards at the blueline at time of Parks turnover.

We were without power all night, so I missed the entire game. I listened on XM and it sounded like things were a little hectic. My theory, although I had no images to prove it, was that missing Staal in a game where the other team wants to play a high-octane transition style was probably the worst possible time.

The Leafs are a very talented team, make no mistake, but they do not have the goaltending or defense to win consistently this season. James Reimer and the Monster are not a playoff quality tandem.

no morning after thread...oh well

-i don't know if any of those goals were even save-able, but i really didn't like johnson's game last night. he looked wild...legs all over the place, too much moving around, just spazzy.
-sure, you can come up with reasons why it was an acceptable decision to play BJ, but given the information we know, it still seemed kind of stupid.
-we weren't cohesive last night - especially on our break outs. people were on each other's toes, passes weren't connecting, the forecheck wasn't crisp. just a bit off.
-with that said, this is still one of those losses that i'm ok with.

Okay so i'm not making excuses for us losing or anything like that, we played a sloppy game and it was bound to happen after playing so well recently. But on Toronto's last 2 goals I was really questioning if they were results of blown offsides calls. I went back into the video and found the 3rd goal is a borderline call (I have 2 pictures below) and the 4th goal was a definite offsides.

I only did this because someone said I was whining about offsides but I only called it out on these two plays.

Those two are borderline and it's tough to tell in 2 frames, let alone at high speed so that's fine. But on the 4th goal it was clearly offsides and even I saw this at full speed, so the ref should have as well.

Only reason I even went so far as to make a point of this is because a lot of our close plays at the line were blown offsides strictly.
