It seems like they take plain Premier jerseys and sew the edge number and name kits on to them. Anyone bought one of these?
Because really, as far as I care, the only real thing that bothers me about the replica store-bought jerseys is the cheap looking solid white plastic lettering.
They are much cheaper than Edge jerseys. Is it worth it?

The letters and numbers are supposed to be more of an off-white than a bright white like that, and the 8 looks like it might be stitched on crooked, but otherwise looks good for the price. I've seen worse.

Just for starters, any time an ebay add says an authentic jersey is a number size with the letter next to it, it's most likely fake - i.e. "SIZE 48 (M)!".

Also, size 48 isn't a real size. Size 46 is a small equivalent and 50 is next, nothing in between.

Also, see that Reebok logo on the left sleeve cuff? That's only ever on the Premier models, not Authentic.

Fake merch always looks like that. There have been stories on the news every year for the past few years, especially since the Pens and Steelers have been in their respective championship games/series and won, telling about how legit this fake merch looks because it has all the tags and "Official Gear of the NHL/NFL" stickers on it.

Hey, I don't like telling anyone what to do with their own money, but personally I buy only authentic jerseys with an occasional replica model.

If we're talking the older jerseys from the 90's and earlier, I would definitely save the money to buy real. Those things are highly sought after and will only gain value with age - you know if you ever want to sell it that you will get your money back, especially if you get a good deal on it.

Newer jerseys are made in such high numbers that in the future they will probably never be worth as much. I'm not saying don't buy an authentic newer one, but I would drop the money on an older one first.

I never saw the value in buying authentic jerseys either until I bought my first NHL authentic jersey as a steal on Ebay and absolutely loved the way it felt when I put it on. That's my approach - if I can find an older one at a lower price on Ebay, I'll buy it in a second. The newer Edge models are still nice, don't get me wrong, but they aren't in the same league as the old CCM Maska jerseys...they are just too comfortable and durable.

I have a few authentic versions of the Edge type jerseys (Black home, light blue third) and a few Premier models (White away, few dark blue thirds) and they are nice, but I personally would rather spend the money on authentic versions of the 90's jerseys and earlier.

I doubt you'd be disappointed if you got one. If you go for the older ones, go authentic, not replica because the older replicas were awful junk. Honestly, look at it as an investment of sorts. That might sound dumb, but there will ALWAYS be people looking to buy those older ones so that if you ever want to sell it, it will still hold its value.

Post up your findings on here any time, I know a few of us would always be willing to tell you if it's a true authentic or a fake.

We've had good luck with the Borntrade ones. We have 5 kids between my wife and I and the cost for real ones was just too much to give to kids that are then wearing them to school and to games. We've had a few with minor stitching issues that were easily repaired, but for the money we couldn't pass it up and the kids have on average 2 jerseys each. I have a couple authentic jerseys myself, including a game worn Goligoski and you can tell the difference in quality for sure, but for a bunch of teenagers the Borntrade ones are pretty nice.

I got a 95 Lemieux "Snoop" style from Borntrade last year when my bro ordered a bunch of jerseys.

He has an authentic one, and said the only major difference between the two was the CCM patch on the bottom of the back and there were a few strings hanging off (nothing scissors couldn't fix).

It's just as good as the authentic.

Personally, I think the Lemieux looks awful, seems to me the letters are way too small.
Also seems Letang is curved.

Like I said in the post you quoted, I've only gotten the diagonal Pittsburgh jersey, and when I compare it to others, there's not much aesthetically that's different.

Not a fan of that Tanger blue one, not at all. Puffy letters, the blue looks like it's too light, and like you already mentioned the name itself looks curved.

Aside from the minor off-white/white thing going on with the Malkin jersey, the lettering doesn't look right. Like the font itself is too wide, which is a common thing with borntrade jerseys. It's not terrible. I've seen much, much worse, but personally I wouldn't get it.
