Anyone can, but when you play a team with the leagues worst power play that can't cycle at all. You keep 3 men back and don't give them crap off the rush. You make Montreal earn their chances and goals. The pens didn't even come close to doing that. Had they done that they easily win this game. In fact Montreal may not have scored at all. Every time they play Montreal they play Montreals game. You can not press against that team. The only way they ever score is off turnovers off the rush. Make them play even up and they have no chance at all.

Lucky to get a point after giving up a goal like the Eller goal...take the point on the road in Montreal...

yes. It will be only because of this game that the penguins will not get their desired seed. Nevermind the other games they lost in overtime/shootout/one goal games...

:pop:

I get what you're saying but Montreal is arguably the worst team in the league in the shootout while the Penguins are one of the best, so that was one that will stick out to me anyways.

The pens scored a shorty against their PP while keeping them 0-3 on it. :pop: MAF let a soft one in, and we lost in a SO. It happens. Every **** team beats a good team from time to time.

And anyone can lose in this league...especially when playing without 2 of their top 4 players. Plus TK.

Did you even watch the 2nd period? It could have been 5-0 after 2.

They usually do better against the Pens, even when they're mediocre to bad. We have yet to win a playoff series against them. Thankfully, this year we won't have to.

It's not just that they lost to them. It's the amount of chances they gave up to them and the way they played against them. They played stupidly against them. There is no reason at all Montreal should have had that many chances. Had they played smartly against them I really don't think they lose even if MAF gives up a soft goal. If they play smartly against them Montreal should struggle to get 20 shots.

I'm happy with the point considering the way the game went. Look at the big picture, they took seven out of a possible eight points against Montreal. They did their job against them.

I think the next three games are really important. They've got a three game homestand against three of the weaker teams in the league, specifically three teams that are really bad on the road. All this leading up to a big game against Philly. If the Pens want to move up the standings, the home stand is six points they can't afford to miss.

I'm guessing you have no idea that the Pens we're 3-0 vs Mtl this season prior to this game.

I guess the scorers don't recognize Sullivan and Dupuis's attempts? Shows three straight MTL shooters. strange.

After the OT, I'd sure be in favor of a 10 minute OT. Pens were coming, but ran out of time.

Letang was 11 out of 26 on shootouts his first three seasons, but he's only 3 out of 17 the last two years and 0 for 4 this year. I think it might be time for a shakeup at the top of the order. I don't think Neal has been as deadly as he was last year either.

Better get at least 5 of them. Though TB and ANA are on the up

You'd be guessing incorrectly. Just because they squeak out winners against them doesn't mean they played well against them. The Pens are much much better than Montreal. They should easily beat them, but they never do because they try to force too much instead of being patient. It's annoying to watch them struggle to beat a team that can't cycle the puck by allowing them to get chances off the rush when that's really the only way they can score.

Very strange, that Tanger's cold streak about coincides with Geno's hot streak.

I think a 10-minute OT would be better... 4 on 4 is so exciting (when longer than 1 shift) and it gives someone the opportunity to truly win

10 minute OT, if you lose during the 10 minutes you get 0 points, but for tie-breaking purposes you keep track of Regulation Losses separately from OT losses.

They'll never do the 10 minute thing though, for financial purposes

I'm starting to be over shootouts. Keep them in the game, but only after a 10-minute OT. Should cut down on them a lot and help them keep their luster when they do happen

Maybe because of the point they lost in this game, the Pens will be the 6th seed and get to play the Panthers. Thanks, Montreal!

NYR, Boston, Philly, NJ, Pittsburgh... the only good teams in the east right now.

So 3 playoff spots for a mish-mash of Washington, Florida, Tampa, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa? All garbage teams, unless Washington and/or Tampa can turn it around
