most hits to the head don't result in a concussion. based on the Pens luck this year though, i'm not optimistic.

It's that ridiculous equipment the players wear. The pads etc. are too big and thick. If they would reduce the size of the pads, less players would be concussed.

Hopefully it continues into the playoffs. The Pens need him. And if Letang is out for any length of time, the power play will really need him.

not at all. it was a head on hit, so the new rules don't apply. letang dipped his head going into the play. there is no way for the dallas player to make a safe hit on the play, and since it's head on, he is not responsible for the safety of the puck carrier

yea it was a HEAD on hit alright, he hit letang in the head with an elbow as you could clearly see on one of the angles. Its not even debatable honestly after seeing that shot of it. Not sure how you can say that was clean, i dont care if letangs head is down or not he was elbowed in the head

LOL, I have seen trolling. This is not it. The hit was a combination of Letang reaching to get the puck and the Dallas Star going for the body. While there was contact to the head, it did not seem malicious. I've noticed that besides Engelland, the stars are crushing us physically.

Don't remember who it was on, but he caught someone along the half-boards on a rush when the player was already engaged with another Pen. Engelland left his feet and finished with his forearms coming through and up into the head region. Pretty serioud hit. Knocked the guy arse over tincups.

To elaborate further, fifteen years ago, the one-timer that Malkin took that was blocked (right before his penalty) would have sent the player who blocked it immediately to the ice writhing in pain. In today's game, a player can play goalie from that far out, take a 100 mph shot off the pads, and skate full speed the other way. Reduce that equipment size = less blocked shots, more goals scored, less concussions.
