Jones and Millbury said it was an unnecessary hit; Millbury said it should be a 5 game suspension. Those two are hardly Penguins-biased

Milbury and Jones took more of an issue with that hit than anyone on the Penguins bench.

When you see that Nystrom could've easily gone for the puck, but decided to go for the hit, intent is there. Just depends on how the NHL interprets whether or not he could've avoided making contact with the head.

I am in the clear minority here, but I see it as a shoulder-on-shoulder blow in every view I've seen of that hit.... i'd love to say it was a horribly dirty hit, but I am just not seeing it.... the only thing I guess was that Nystrom may have raised his arms at the end of the hit and caught a bit of head.... but it really didn't look that bad.

Millbury actually just made sense.

Never thought I'd see the day I would agree with him.

Cheap shot.

It was a cheap shot. These guys have been playing hockey for years. You mean to tell me there was NOTHING that Nystrom could to to avoid smashing Letang in the face with an elbow there?

Yeah. And Steckel's hit on Sid was totally innocent. Steckel has no peripheral vision and did not see him coming or know he was there. Okay.

These players are very good at making a dirty hit look totally innocent or accidental.

Just Super slo moed the Nystrom hit on Letang on the DVR....Nystrom hits him with the area between the elbow and shoulder across the face and then impacts Letang's shoulder which causes him to fly back and hit the ice luckily on his right shoulder and not his head....Definitely made direct contact across the face, praying that it's not a concussion.

im not mad about the hit.. im mad about the penalty only being 2 minutes. I dont care if he gets suspended. What does that do for the Pens? I want a 5 minute for that. And thats the only thing im upset about.

I thought so too at first with the shoulder to shoulder, but he definitely got face first when I slowed it down

In reality, it probably is not a concussion. The hit was to the lower part of Letang's face, near the jaw. Having said that, the fact that Letang had a concussion a few months earlier cannot be a good thing. The Pens will undoubtedly be very cautious here.

maybe......but there are not too many other teams out there that would have allowed Nystrom to skate to the box with his big mouth flapping without being mugged.
