I might be in the minority but I'm not so sure that hit was intentional at all. Letang got stuck making a low move and it was a wrong place, wrong time kind of thing. (ducking)

Intentional in the result, no. Intentional in that Nystrom didn't even try and play the puck, yes.

It's exactly the hit Craig Adams put on Daniel Alfreddson last year or the year before. Alfie reached and basically put himself in a position like that. But the rule has changed, intentional or not - you can't hit the guy there and you certainly can't make direct contact to the head. If Matt Cooke has to change, everyone has to change.

A few years ago I would have said Letang can't put himself in that position.... however the rule has been set, the Matt Cooke rule, you can't do that anymore. If the Penguins have to play by that rule and have their players change the way they play, then the rest of the league should too.

Disappointed again in the lack of reaction of the guys on the ice to a hit like that. They just huddle around Nystrom and don't do anything to him. That's why teams keep targeting our best players.

I thought it looked more shoulder to shoulder too...but Letang was holding his head.

You're right... I was combining the Pacioretty hit from earlier this year to the Cooke hit.

Pacioretty still got suspended for a similar hit, though.

The hit on Letang was a case of a player who plays the body first hitting a defenseman who put himself in a vulnerable position. Letang made the mistake of having his chin out in front of his body.

Saying Nystrom brought his elbow up is just wrong.

It was Letang's fault. Part of staying healthy is being smart, and that was not smart

I didn't see Letang get a stick on it the second time but he does move his elbow back to make contact with Letang's head. Slight but definite move there.
