No report on Letang. Just day-to-day. Was well enough to stand beside screaming children outside locker room

If Letang is out for awhile I would much rather see Depres fill his spot than Lovejoy.

Just told him that Nystrom could have went after the puck and instead targeted a defenseless Letang.....Roenick was calling Milbury Soff and telling Milbury that Letang's head wasn't hit, and then a minute later said he hit Letang's chin, which I guess isn't part of your head anymore.

I think Nystrom did hit Letang in the far shoulder with his shoulder, but at the same time his bicep area caught Letang in the head. I think it's going to be a fine or nothing b/c the "principal point of contact" was Letang's far shoulder.

there shouldn't be any further action from the league on that hit. it was unfortunate as all hell, but it's not something you can suspend a guy for.

if letang is out for the playoffs (which sounds crazy, but actually doesn't sound crazy), we're done. that's it. there's absolutely no power play to speak of without him. we already saw that. not to mention he's just an awesome awesome player. he's more important to this team than crosby is this year. hope he's feeling symptom free right now. and if he is, i give the team a lot of credit for finally learning something about precaution.

he also suggested that Bylsma should have told Pierre where to stick his microphone - or something like that.

Surprised by how many people on here were actually defending that hit and or blaming Letang, initially.

Late to the party (on here, I was watching the game) but that post game was awesome TV. I did not expect that from any of them. Milbury was so fired up I think he chopped JR twice to emphasis the hit

Missed the game due to a concert, came back and saw the ESPN teaser of Letang getting hit with the announcer saying something like "with Crosby already concussed, Penguins fans hate to see this..."

I'm sure it's already been discussed, but im tired/drunk/donrt feel like reading this whole thread. How worried should I be about Letang?

He was in seriously bad shape after the hit.

Whether it hurt Letang or not, that's a type of hit that shouldn't be made. I agree with Milbury for once. He was going for the puck, but saw Letang in a vulnerable position and decided it was a good chance to hammer him. I bet Cooke 2.0 wouldn't have gone after him like that. I'm not saying it was an intentionally evil play, but if he were given a 5 game suspension then he might think twice the next time he's in that position.

I really don't understand these 2-3 game suspensions and fines. Those are just punishments, which typically give no motivation to the player to change. I like what they've done this year, but I think they can do more. Stronger message's need to be send league wide imo.

While I don't like the situation Letang put himself, the videos show Nystrom going for the puck and at the last second deciding to go for the hit. I don't know if it was an "oh crap, I am going to miss this puck, best play is to hit him" or just "perfect chance to get a big hit", but it looked nasty. I can't see how Letang won't be out for a while because of this.

Letang's reaction to the hit was odd. It wasn't the classic, lay on the ice prone or disoriented look that usually accompanies concussions. He looked like he was in serious pain holding his face.

To me, the worst part about seeing a concussion is watching the player lay on the ice. I find nothing more disturbing than the prone bodies of Horton, Savard, etc. laying there, clearly out of it. Just the thought of Sid laying on the ice like that makes my stomach turn and I hope to god I never have to see that.

I honestly don't think Nystrom should be suspended for that hit on Letang. The result was unfortunate, but I don't think that was a headshot by anymeans. His head snapped back, yes, but the principal point of contact was Letangs shoulder not his head.
