Martin, Michalek, Orpik all awesome tonight.

I also thought Tangradi looked good tonight. I've been disappointed in his progression so far but I must admit that I think he's looked good in every game since his most recent call up. Looks like he did some work on his skating.

Tangradi at times looks lost, but I find him trending upwards instead of what seemed to have become stagnated. He is obviously not a power forward, but he could turn into a nice player.

Agreed on the Tangradi thoughts above.

This was a strange game. It didn't feel like the Pens were dominating with puck possession, but they just let the Avs skate around the perimeter and practice their cycle. It never felt like the pens would lose.

Another game won without a great game from Geno or Neal. Again, Geno was somehow 1st star.

Park, Adams, Asham, and Orpik all passed Sid in scoring last night.

That will last about three shifts into the next game in which Sid plays this season.

Avalanche right wing Steve Downie, recently acquired from Tampa Bay, had words with Malkin early in the first period. Defenseman Paul Martin came to Malkin's aid, and Martin and Downie both received penalties.
"That's my favorite thing about Malkin," Colorado defenseman Shane O'Brien said before the game. "He never backs down from anyone."

He could be a guy who scores around 10 goals, plays on a checking line, and occasionally the second power play as a big body in front.

He will never be fast enough to be a big impact player, especially in this system. But as he learns the game and to anticipate and adjust to everything at the NHL level, he could carve out a niche for himself.

Tangradi won't be going anywhere unless they improve the prospect pool at LW in the coming draft. HockeysFuture.com has Tangradi as the #3 prospect for the Pens, and the top of a short list of LWs.

To put in in perspective, here is what they have listed for LW prospects:

2. Ken Agostino
3. Paul Thompson
4. Ben Hanowski
5. Scott Wilson
6. Zack Sill (Not sure why they have him listed at LW, he's been at C for as long as I can remember - dating back to his QMJHL days)

Quoting myself here, but I still wish they'd have taken a shot on Marek Hrivik with a late pick. A solid two-way winger with nice hands. He's got a good frame, and has gained some muscle - weighing in at 197 now. He definitely would've improved the outlook at LW, IMO.
