The refs are calling everything. There must be ALOT of chirping from the Caps out there. Usually thats when I would call everything AGAINST that team when I reffed. I didnt want to see anyone get cheap shoted so you let them know that they arent going to get away with anything AHEAD of time.

I see things arent much different in the NHL. 8)

Yeah, but that alone doesn't explain the utter domination the last two meetings. This goes beyond that.

so lets see here... we are leading by 5... the caps are frustrated... ovesuckin cant stay on the ice... nor witt...

so MT says okay boys we got them where we want them... roy... you go out for a PP... i like it... we have been in this position... and unlike most clubs MT says we will restrain from making it 15 nothing... great sportsmanship... this is what penguin hockey is all about folks!

I doubt that, he might just be putting Roy on to see what he can do in case he is needed in a close game. Plus, you need protection at all times now because the Caps are out of control.

Crosby is currently 2 back of Ovechkin in the rookie scoring race.

Check out Sergei Gonchar's stat line from the game so far:

Ice Time: 11:51
Goals: 1
Assists: 2
Plus-Minus: +2
Shots: 6
PIM: 0

i agree protection is needed... but not when you have colby armstong and bogy out there... the only other reason MT would throw those boys out there is to get them going... i personally think its good sportsmanship... and the fact that colby and roy need to start producing... obviously...

but i would put roy on crosbys line from here on out... he took a couple hits on a pp i think late in the period... and then got off... he didnt come back on... hopefully nothing bad happened!

Only a +2 in a 5-0 game?

He still sucks. :P

What's the over/under on someone still making the argument 'but he only has X many points on 5 vs. 5 play'?

Face it, folks: Sergei Gonchar is re-emerging as close to HIS old self, too.
Let's see if he can sustain it. I'm hoping the Olympics only do more to keep him rolling... right into next year's season.

It remains to be seen whether a Sergei Gonchar even as his old self is really a good fit in the new NHL, but he has certainly picked his play up.
