Jaromir Jagr: Crosby Harms Only Himself

For me, looking back I don't regret not signing Talbot. For the money he was asking, and his performance his last year, it was a no-brainer to let him go. I liked him, but at that point in time it didn't make sense. It felt like his time here was over. The kind of year he is having now I don't think he would have had playing for the Pens.

I still wonder what went wrong with Talbot here. The guy clearly has some skill/smarts, in addition to being a pain in the butt to play against. For some reason it didn't blossom in Pitt and I'm now wondering whether they used him properly. Maybe, just maybe, we screwed up? I'll be curious to see how he does next season.

I hope the Pens win game 4, so Jagr comes back for Game 5 and then can blow 3M of his 3.3M at the casino because you know thats the only reason he went to Philly. They offered the most and he needs money still.

Jagr is being a leader on that team. Telling them to focus on their play and not on stupid crap.

Yep. His act in deciding which team to play for was typical Jagr diva stuff but he's been nothing but a professional there. All you've ever heard about is how hard he works. I couldn't have been more wrong about him. Apparently he would have been a great fit here. They could have used his leadership desperately. The guys they have here clearly self destructed when things got bad.

It's really easy to be professional and a "leader" when you are up 3-0. Big Deal!

From the start he's been a true professional for them. There were stories about him going to the rink to work at night at the beginning. I expected him to eventually turn diva but it simply hasn't happened. He checked his ego, appears to be working very hard, and is being a leader there. It's been the case all season. He deserves the props.

I think people get a little overboard on how much he's blossomed this season. In 07-08 he was on a 15-16 goal, 34 point pace which is essentially the season he had this year. He's shown the ability in the past two be this kind of player. The last two years of his Pens career were down but he's back up to where he was previously. We'll see if he can sustain this. If he goes back to being an eight goal, 21 point guy I'm sure not many people in Philly will be happy with him and his salary. He's been good in the playoffs but that's nothing new. He always elevated his game in the playoffs here. Even in the seasons when he wasn't good during the regular season.

The Pens matching the contract Philly gave him after the last two seasons he had here wasn't going to happen. Talbot, by himself, also wouldn't make a difference here. I don't think any one player could make a difference with the way this team has imploded. It is a systematic failure.
