Thoughts on which Pens were injured/playing injured this series...

Niskanen played with a shoulder injury which was likely the result of a hit from Daniel Paille in the game vs Boston.

Neal was dealing with something heading into the playoffs that forced him to miss last 2 games. Injured in fight with Andrew Ference?

Martin knee injury? Or phantom injury to bench him with dignity?

I hope Crosby made it through unscathed. Being healthy will allow Sid to have a productive off season as far training and practicing are concerned.

I think Crosby is fine and one positive I'm taking away from the early exit is he's gonna have 4 months to think about it. It probably kills him finally being able to play after all that neck meat drama, and then to get bounced early... by the Flyers! I imagine that series will be great motivation to come back with a fury next season. Sid always seems to push himself even when there were no questions about him or the team. I think we see Crosby's best season next year. Go Pens!

For Martin's shake I hope he has some excuse. When I see a player that bad and the whole fanbase knows how much he's making for what he's bringing to the table, I don't know how he can not be embarassed/not have trouble sleeping at night.

I don't think Sid has an injury, but he didn't look right to me in that series. He seemed kind of out of it in Game 6, which is odd considering it was an elimination game. Malkin was frustrated, Fleury was shaky, Staal was hungry. Sid just didn't seem all that into it after game 3.

Imagine the "Martin is such a warrior" threads.

If in fact it is confirmed that Martin was dealing all season, would his sub par play be vindicated? Personally, I would question why he remained in the lineup and wasn't removed to allow the injury to heal. Unless of course it was something where the damage had been done and it was a matter of pain tolerance, where only off season surgery would be the solution.

Vitale has to have an upper body injury, he was not throwing his weight around.

Vitale - agree, he was hurt for sure
Martin - his mental game was in a shambles at the very least
Kunitz - brain cramp. He was ineffective, I almost hope he was injured
Sid - That accidental hit with Malkin seemed really bad. If he was not hurt... miracle

With all this being said, invites by World Cup teams will be issued soon (if not done already), we'll have answer's that way plus end of season/clear locker day.

Letang wasn't near 100% either. You can tell he didn't have his initial burst of speed and he got beat to a lot of pucks he would have normally gotten to. He really shyed away from physical play as well, which isn't like him.

Tanger was playing with a lingering hip injury and was also 'shot up' to play. He was invited to the WC but declined.

So I haven't heard anything else. Looks to me like injuries were really not much of a factor in the meltdown. On the bright side, unlike this season, no excuses for everyone not being 100% for training camp. (Including any "new" Pens).
